2000 Spider Red Convertible
1974 Alfa Romeo Spider 2-Door Convertible Description
Although late 1970's, 1980's and 1990's Alfa Romeo Spiders seem to be very plentiful, rarely do Spiders from the early 1970's come on the market. The earlier cars have more power, are lighter, have smaller bumpers and are not encumbered by later pollution devices. This 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider has only 52,415 miles, is in excellent original condition and is virtually mechanically perfect. All gauges and all accessories work perfectly. The original Spica fuel injection functions as new, the car starts immediately and idles perfectly. The car is a reliable driver and could probably make a trip of 1,000 miles or more. A previous owner completely stripped and painted the car to a high standard about five years ago and a paint shop told me that it probably cost about $5000. The previous owner drove the car 700 miles on one trip and I drove it on a 500-mile trip with absolutely no mechanical problems at highway speeds. The car used virtually no oil on this trip and the engine has no leaks. The previous owner installed a Morelli Electronic Ignition, new hoses, a fuel line, new battery and tires. The car has great oil pressure and always ran cool at speed as can be seen by one of the photos. The car has a current New York State inspection and a clear New York State title in my name. Externally, the car is rust and corrosion free but there is some small amount of corrosion underneath where the painted body seams end but this appears to be minor. The interior is in overall excellent condition with seats having virtually no wear. However, there are several age cracks on the top of the dash which is common (see photo). The car currently does not have a radio and has a factory Alfa Romeo radio delete panel in the dash.It has a pair of after market speakers are fitted on the center tunnel and there is also a small speaker hole at the corner of the rear compartment behind the passenger seat where one speaker was previously installed. There is a radio antenna on the rear deck so it is assumed that the car had a radio at some point, but this is unknown. There are some minor paint chips including one about an inch long on the rear tail. The wooden steering wheel and Alfa Romeo shift knob are in excellent condition. The doors shut perfectly. The convertible top has a small tear at the corner. Overall, this is a great driving car that can be immediately enjoyed and is arguably in the best color for an open Alfa Romeo, red. Any questions, call (315) 432-8269. Car is located in Syracuse, New York. A $500 deposit can be paid by PayPal and the balance can be paid by check, wire transfer or cash. With the price escalation of 2000 GTV's, this early 2000 Spider represents a great value.
