For Sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is an all numbers matching 1972 AMC Javelin survivor with 99% of its factory parts date coded within weeks of the July 1972 build completion. Just completed extensive year-long professional preservation. Every effort spent returning this rare all original SST back to its factory original museum quality appearance, regardless of cost. Javelins have seen stellar prices increases this year. As unmolested examples become impossible to find. Along with skyrocketing restoration costs. So grab this one and hold on for great investment potential, you can actually enjoy. Best suited for a serious collector, or someone wanting to enjoy a perfectly running, fuel efficient muscle car with only 3166 lbs. Dependable enough to drive daily, or gently as a weekend warrior. Never driven since completion and flatbed trailered to Gateway. Always highly maintained by two previous meticulous Southern owners. Plus, AMC uni-bodies were "deep-dip" rustproofed at the factory and received undercoating. Meaning, this one does NOT have any of the Javelin/AMX-specific corrosion trouble areas. It even retains the original factory undercoating. Preserved to look like it just rolled off the line in Kenosha.
However, after 45 years of well-maintained use, even the best of cars accumulate some minor bumps and bruises. So a full preservation began documenting all aspects for originality. To ensure all the little bits got put back together correctly.
The bumpers, exterior trim, motor, exhaust manifolds, exhaust, grill, lights, doors, trunk lid, spoiler, hood, lower front and rear valences, carpet, headliner, and interior trim were all disassembled. Ensuring every nook and cranny is now painted flawlessly from top to bottom. However, for originality sake, the factory wiring harness, dash, gauges, rear seat, original factory undercoating, welds, clips, switches, and all the little doo-dads that make it an original survivor were left in place and cleaned.
The only minor body imperfections, prior to restoration, were a very small quarter size hole made under the battery tray. Where most cars of this era erode due to chronic leakage of battery acid. Also, 2-3 tiny pin holes in the lower driver inside quarter panel appeared when prepping the body. This was professionally repaired with small metal patches from OEM Javelin panels and now completely undetectable. PPG base coat/ clear coat professionally applied and painstakingly wet sanded between coats with increasingly fine grit to ensure the body is smooth as glass.
The front and rear bumpers, all original factory stainless trim, rocker panel cover molding, logos, drip moldings, window moldings and etcetera are in original amazing condition. Only needed light polishing. The attractive1972 only, Ferarri-esque egg crate style grill was painted its correct gray and black with bright silver face. The tail lamp assembly with chrome grid covering is original and in great condition. Original exterior door handles and driver side chrome mirror have very good original chrome. Both door sill plates are in original unrestored condition and show awesome very slight patina. All door locks, trunk and console locks work with factory original keys and vintage Javelin key fob. All new correct reproduction weather-stripping was added to the doors, windows, trunk, and hood, with all factory original retaining clips, screws, and brackets. The optional black vinyl roof simulates a T-top and has new correct reproduction boar skin textured inserts. Original factory correct roof trim repainted correct satin/semi black with factory style retaining clips securing them down with factory sealer on the edges. Applied just like the factory did to prevent water infiltration. All new Javelin logos and red, white, and blue bullseyes were added. List of Factory Coded Parts:
