2001 AUDI A6 2.7T QUATTRO - TRANSMISSION SLIPPING
2001 Audi A6 Description
You are bidding on a used 2001 Audi A6 2.7T AWD sedan. The transmission is starting to slip. It would probably be best to tow if won. I would only consider driving it if you are relatively close to the area. Even then, you may be taking a chance. The car is located in Central Islip, NY. The mileage may increase slightly if I take it to the gas station and fill up the tank.
The body is in fairly decent shape. It has some scratches all around, a scratch on the hood (near the windshield) and I believe a small dent on one of the front fenders (just above the wheel). The passenger-side mirror housing is broken along with the cable enabling the heated glass feature. The previous owner tinted the windows, replaced the small spare with a full-size wheel and installed a shark-fin style roof antenna. Which is not functional and purely for cosmetics I guess.
The interior is in okay shape. The LCD cluster display has had dead pixels since I bought it. The leather seats are cracking a bit. The rear passenger-side fold down seat does not lock into place. If you come to a really hard stop, it will come down. The front ashtray cover has fallen off and the mirror control knobs are broken. The previous owner also installed an aftermarket Pioneer double-din radio. I am pretty sure that the speakers are stock.
The car runs okay (transmission slip aside obviously). There has always been a slight hesitation upon first acceleration since I bought it. There is a small oil leak somewhere (possible seals). The car never burned oil where you could see smoke or anything. It also never ran hot. The heat and air conditioner work fine.
Under my ownership, the oil was changed every 3,000 miles with Liqui Moly 5W40 oil. The front driver-side wheel bearing and both tie rods were done at 130,800 miles. Rear calipers rebuilt along with rear brake rotors, pads and sensors done at 131,891 miles. Spark plugs, vacuum check valve with hoses and connectors done at 133,725 miles. Fuel pump done at 135,300 miles. Front rotors and pads done at 143,336 miles. I don't know what the previous owners did maintenance wise. The car has 225-45-R17 General G-Max AS03 tires with about 75-80 percent tread I believe. I will also be including an extra tire with about the same amount of tread.
This is for local pickup only.
Included with the car will be owner's manuals, radio remote and a total of 4 keys.
This car is being sold as-is with no warranties of any kind implied. This would probably be best for a mechanic or someone mechanically inclined.
You are more than welcome to come look at it before bidding to see if it is something that you want. I listed everything that I could remember regarding problems and quirks that I came across. If I forgot anything (I don't think I did), it was an honest mistake and not an act of deceit. There is no reserve on this auction. Thank you for looking.
I would also like to say thank you to everyone for even considering to spend your hard-earned money on my items. It really helps and I appreciate it greatly.
