Audi RS6 2003 Quattro all wheel drive Black 4.2L V8 Twin Turbo Great Driver!
2003 Audi RS6 RS6 Description
NO RESERVE! Located in the Central Valley of Northern California, (the only one I've seen on either ebay or auto trader for sale on the West Coast), this is an amazing vehicle! It is a pleasure and a thrill to drive . It was purchased by me in 2009 with about 36,000 miles on it. I have used it mostly as my primary vehicle since then, so it now has 130,000 + miles on it, (I'm still driving it). I have enjoyed it every day I've driven it, and in every weather and road condition, and I will be sad to lose the driving experience the vehicle offers. (Time to get a car more suited to a family that likes to head to the mountains in sun or snow, to get grubby. This car is too nice for snow or dirt driving.)
In 2003, the Audi RS6 was a beast and outperformed its competition,(Mercedes E55 AMG & BMW M5), upon its release. There was a single year release in 2003 to North America, and only 860 were sold in the U.S., so it was a special acquisition. It is a surprise to many, as it looks like an ordinary Audi on first glance, but take another look, then listen to the sophisticated rumble when it starts, and finally, try your hand at the wheel and your foot on the pedal. Buy a good radar detector! This car 'flies' with ease. If you're at 60 on the highway and want to pass, you'll be going 85 in a blink. It's the kind of car that, in sport mode, if punched at 100 will throw your head back and leap ahead to 140. We have Porsches, and the performance of this vehicle is somewhere between a base 911 and the turbo, in a sedan no less! Look it up on the internet and read the specifications and reviews on the 2003 RS6, it was a bit of a flagship for Audi USA that year. The RS6 has several unique details and components. It includes the sport steering, sport exhaust, satin finish rather than chrome on the mirrors, carbon fiber finishing inside and on the motor cover, alcantara lining, 4.2L 450 horse twin turbo engine. The RS6 is just the slightly more sedate, 'cloaked' version of a race car. So, even for a 13 year old vehicle, it is an impressive item, worth getting to know.
This vehicle was pampered before I got it. It is still a beautiful car in very good, clean, condition considering that it was my primary vehicle(though I did have another car I sometimes drove), it went on a few highway road trips, and we have raised our daughter for 5 years with it. So, it shows some wear. Kept in a garage, but parked outdoors when it was driven to work.
Exterior appearance: Paint is very good, car was waxed regularly and was primarily hand washed. There are no major dings nor any scratches, but there are some rock chips on the front grill and bumper, as well as on windshield. Headlights have been cleaned up. The front valance under the bumper shows scraping from contact with asphalt due to low profile of vehicle. Wheels are in good condition, but do have some curb contact scratches. There are a few rock chips here and there on side of body, but they have to be looked for. Frame for license plate holder on back has an impact-looking crack on it, and I do not know what caused it (a shopping cart when I was in a store? - check photos). Front license was never attached, so bumper is clean.
Interior appearance: Light gray leather seating is still soft and mostly is in very good condition, (driver's seat shows creasing, but has not had any open cracking due to re-application of leather conditioner yearly.) Back seats are clean, car seat always had a large towel under it. All surfaces are in fair to excellent condition. Fair only because some of the dial and CD controls on front console, as well as on the left passenger side where our daughter sat, show wear. Her feet also wore a little on the center console side which faces the rear. Carpets and mats are in excellent condition, and all snap in solidly. Carbon fiber coating on dash above glove compartment has crack lines, likely from years of heat? Alcantara overhead lining is soft gray and clean everywhere. Perforated leather covered steering wheel is in excellent shape. Center console cover was replaced once, and opens and shuts fine, but has a loose locking component.
Mechanical/structural: Great, regular oil changes all documented, as well as servicing. DRC suspension service and new fuel tank in 2009, both of those under warranty and performed by Audi dealer. Replaced transmission on October 2015, car is running beautifully. Regular new tires and brakes were placed on the car as needed, current tires are still good. Brakes may need changing within the year. Front hood pops up and holds fine. Trunk needs to be manually lifted; it pops open, but no longer lifts fully automatically; this could probably be easily repaired. By the way, the trunk/boot is very large! Nice for traveling, shopping, or sports.
*Timing belt replaced at 67,711 miles
*Last full service completed August 2015.
*Last oil change February 2016 at 123,208 miles
Electrical: AC and heater, front and rear seat heaters and electric front seat adjustments including lumbar work very well. All windows, side mirror adjustments, and sun/moon roof works well. Airbag light for a side bag has intermittently gone off, it's a sensor to a side airbag by seat belt. This vehicle always passes smog, last smogged in August 2015. Radio tick, must be turned off manually, will stay on even when car it turned off. Center digital information that is visible between the odometer and the gauges on the driver side of the console, a 3" x 1/5" screen,(mileage, radio station, outdoor temperature), does not emit light well in hot weather, so is not always readable. Gas tank should be filled 3/4 to completely to accurately reflect how full it is on gauge. None of these issues listed affects the experience with the drive or the vehicle's comfort or basic functioning.
Car has a secondary alarm with which it came to me, fully functioning. Two keys are intact. Owner's manual, maintenance and repair records, all the paperwork is with the car.
Vehicle will also be listed locally.
