Motor Trend ReviewThe all-new M5 arrives with a 560-hp 4.4L twin-turbo V-8, mated to a 6M or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for 2013. The latest high-performance 5 Series is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. On the outside, the 2013 BMW M5 looks, for the most part, like a regular BMW 5-series. It is a four-door midsize sedan with sleek lines and subtle curves. It has a modern design that fits in well with other models in the BMW lineup. There are a few aspects of the exterior that distinguish the M5 from the standard 5-Series. It sports several ?M? badges on various parts of the body, such as the trunk. It also has engine vents on the front side fenders that add a very sporty, muscular appeal. The grille is slightly different than the standard 5-series, and the M5 also comes stock with a custom body kit. While there are only slight differences between the car and the regular 5-Series, it is almost immediately distinguishable as an M5. However, the real difference lies underneath the hood.
Inside the 2013 BMW M5, the five-seat cabin combines German luxury with a sporty touch that is exclusive to the M-line of BMWs. All five seats are plush and wrapped in leather, available in a variety of colors. While standard 5-series models have wood trim, the M5 offers carbon fiber lining across the dash and doors. This is a unique reminder that the car is meant for performance, not for luxury. Expected convenience amenities are standard, such as power controls for windows, doors, seats, and mirrors. Heated seats are also available. By way of entertainment, the M5 offers a 12-speaker stereo system that produces phenomenal sound. IPod/MP3 integration capability is standard. Controls for the stereo system can be found on the steering wheel, along with the cruise control buttons. The BMW navigation system is available as an option. It has a large screen built into the section of the dash above the stereo, and is controlled by a track wheel in the center console. A power sunroof is a standard features. The car’s technological features are on par with its competition.Overall, the interior of the 2013 BMW M5 is comfortable and stylish. Legroom in the backseat is high enough to accommodate three tall adults. Everything is power operated- almost nothing is manual. While it is a sports car at its core, the interior of the 2013 M5 is unmistakably BMW.
Motor Trend - "A masterpiece of performance & power"Driving the 2013 BMW M5 is a truly special experience. All BMWs are built for performance, but the sport-tuned M5 is in a league all its own. It is fitted with a monstrous, 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V-8 that cranks out 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Two cylinders are lost from the previous model’s V-10, but power is actually gained with the new engine. While the M5 can be fitted with an eight-speed, automatic transmission, the six-speed manual optimizes performance.
The 2013 BMW M5 has a stiff, sport-tuned suspension that helps the car fly around tight corners with ease. However, it is still a BMW, so the overall ride is very smooth. Performance tires keep the car glued to the road, even in slick conditions. The 2013 BMW M5 is a masterpiece of performance and power. There is nothing quite like it.
