CONDITION:

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:

-ENGINE

This 4.4L V-8 produces 400hp/450lb torque and has relatively low miles, only 80,660 miles appearing on the odometer though the car shows as one with half of that. The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth, torquey power! Even with a small crack of the throttle, the 550i pulls away effortlessly. Really, a wonderful touring luxury car experience with a sporty feel. No check engine lights, no service due, no knocks, ticks, bangs or issues!. Brand new radiator and engine seals just done under maintenance free warranty - $6k retail cost. Just smooth BMW power! Apparently BMW put a lot of engineering effort into these V8 Twin Turbo engines and they are pretty much bulletproof. It was BMW's 5 Series flagship model in 2011.

-TRANSMISSION

The 8 speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly, no delays, no odd gear shifts, holding gears or errors! Manual, Comfort, and Sport modes all work.

-SUSPENSION & BRAKES

No bangs, no rough ride, no clunks! The shocks dampen wonderfully especially due to the Dynamic Handling Package. The car is very tight in corners, and comfortable on the straights! The brakes have confident pedal, great pressure with a firm positive stop. Brakes service up to date.

-STEERING

Steering is tight, aligned nicely, doesn't pull and weights up nicely at speed. No dead spots or play.

-PAINT and BODY

The Space Gray Metallic paint is extra nice. All original and has a quite a nice shine, recently finished and waxed by a highly acclaimed detailer here in Los Angeles. CLEAN and CLEAR CarFax.

NO ACCIDENTS. There are a few scrapes on the bottom of the front bumper from some low driveways/speed bumps, a small couple chips and scratch on the rear bumper area (check pictures). Especially on the Gray they are particularly hard to see and certainly do not take away from the overall beauty of the car. Still way above average for a 80k + mileage car!

-TIRES

All 4 run flat tires are in great shape and have over 75% tread left. Rears replaced at 74K

-WHEELS

The OEM BMW Sport style 19” wheels are very clean. Only very minor curb marks on the passenger side wheel. Check pictures (barely noticeable)

-GLASS

The windshield is perfect, with no chips or sandblasting. It is clear glass that makes a world of difference. The door and rear glass and moonroof are in perfect shape.

-LIGHTS

Xenon headlights light up bright and all exterior lights work perfect!

On to the Cabin:

-SEATS

The Black Dakota leather seats are fantastic! CoolVentilation and Heating work perfectly. They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather and foam is soft and comfortable. You sit surrounded in these buttery soft seats and overall BMW luxury! The leather has been very well cared for and shows only VERY minor flaws for a 6 year old car. All power seat way functions work perfectly! The leather has been recently cleaned and conditioned as well! Rear seats are in excellent shape also and barely used.

-CARPET

Excellent carpet in the car! It has been shampooed and cleaned as part of the overall detail. It is in wonderful shape and is covered in equally wonderful shape black floor mats - check out the pics! Carpet in the trunk is in very nice shape.

-DOOR PANELS

Door panels are in wonderful shape! Only some very light finger tip wear near the driver window switches, which is very typical of the rubberized plastic coating.

-POWER SEATS

All power seat functions work perfect!

-POWER WINDOWS/SUNROOF

All windows work and sunroof work perfectly.

- RADIO/CLIMATE CONTROL/NAVIGATION/ENTERTAINMENT

The Entertainment system works fantastic with no glitches or errors. This car has Navigation, Bluetooth, Sat Radio, Smartphone Integration, Voice Command and Keyless Entry. The scroll wheel works perfectly and shows a little wear in the middle which is common on these 6th generation BMW’s. Dual Climate selections work perfectly, the radio works perfectly and sounds GREAT with the Premium HiFI Sound System.

-STEERING WHEEL

The leather very soft and feels great! All steering wheel functions and buttons work as they should.

-CARGO AREA

The cargo area is fantastic shape. Clean battery - no corrosion. Original full BMW OEM manuals in their leatherette folder!

-PARKING SENSORS/HEADS UP DISPLAY/PARK ASSIST

All front and rear parking sensors, heads up display and blind spot detection work perfectly.

THE EXPERIENCE:

Driving this 550IL is exactly what is was meant to be: a comfortable, relaxing, powerful experience. This was a $72k vehicle when new and still feels the part! It pulls like a train if you let your right foot have some fun, or cruises like a comfortable cruiser if you aren't in a rush. Wonderful for around town, ideal for enjoying on the weekends and perfect for a road trip, this 550i is truly a treat to drive. One of the most appealing aspects of the newer generation of the 5 Series is their ride quality, and this car weathers pot-holes just as well as the smooth back roads of Southern California. It is in its glory out on the open highway.
