2007 BMW 550i - Sport Package - Standard Transmission - 2 sets of wheels/tires
2007 BMW 5-Series 550i Description
I have been the only owner. When configured the options selected required that the car be custom ordered from Germany. Options Selected:
- Sport Package which includes: sport suspension, active roll stabilization, active steering, limited slip.
- V8:4.8-liter V8 engine with 360 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque, same as in the 750i.
- Stick Shift: Six forward gears, with a new clutch (see below).
- Cold Weather Package: Heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and heated steering wheel (almost nicer than the seat warmer).
- Seats: Upgraded sport seats (best seats I have had in any car) with the ventilation option that blows up through the seats. The seats feature 20-way power adjustments, thigh support, angle of articulated upper backrest section, independently from overall backrest angle, backrest width, 4-way power lumbar support.
- Premium Sound: top notch, also comes with a front cd player, plus a 6 disk player, Sirius Radio, there is a line in.
- Electronics: Navigation and Bluetooth telephone integration. Has worked with all my IPhones and two Androids.
- Cruise Control.
- Sun Roof.
- Upgraded Leather - needed to get the fancy seats.
- I have attached a scan of the original window sticker (it’s a bit faded).
Additional Value Add included in Auction:
- Full set of summer wheels and tires – in addition to wheels and tires on the car. Both sets are 18", offset with wider tires in rear - this was how the factory set them up (part of sport package). The current set of wheels are steel and in use for regular driving. The other set are Aluminum M class type wheels with run flat tires, they have repaired due to cracks – they look great and still hold air. I prefer the steel tires as they don’t have any issues when you are driving in winter. The extra set in included with the car as they are BMW wheels and should go with the car to the next owner. The car also has a spare.
- Major Repairs recently completed (4000 miles ago): Spent $4,665.00 at Autobahn Service Center a well-respected German car only facility - the dealer would have been way worse. The clutch was replaced - the clutch should be good for another 80K miles like the first one. Front control arms were also replaced. A scan of the work order is attached.
- The suspension is in excellent condition in addition to recent work struts and bushings as needed; I like the car to be balances and run true - as the German engineers intended.
So what’s wrong:
·The car has some blemishes to the body work. The worst is the hood of the car – something happened while it was parked about 4 years ago, and the bumpers show the results of parking over the last 8 or 9 years. See pictures to view these issues. I never fixed these exterior issues as I am much more concerned with ride quality and the view from the driver’s seat. That said, the interior of the car is in excellent shape and does not disappoint.
·The Bluetooth to phone interface is early generation, has worked for all my phones flawlessly, but takes a few seconds to boot up.
·The Parking Sensor is a little wonky sometimes it doesn’t light up
This is a true driver’s car. The V8 married to the manual transmission provides a very well balanced power curve thanks to the torque and the horse power. The sport suspension enhancements allow the car to corner with precision. The interior finish and excellent seats really provide the driver with a rewarding experience. The car has been garaged 95% of its life and used mostly for commuting.
Even though I recently invested a good amount into the car, my wife and kids have finally worn me down and Dad’s car will no longer be a stick shift – and now soon mom can switch cars with dad.
I can arrange fro viewings and even test drives (if you have a bid) - the car is in a garage in New Rochelle, NY.
