2002 BMW 5-Series Sportwagen Description

Up for your consideration is a very fine 2002 BMW 525i Sportwagen. Why is this car priced more than others you can find on eBay? I will tell you why:
I purchased this vehicle six months ago from an eBay dealer in the Northeast who specializes in European cars. His ad was great and he claimed the car was in incredible condition and needed absolutely nothing. He promised it had no leaks (turned out it had many). The car looked good in the ad so I bought it sight unseen just as the listing was expiring. Let's just say he was not very honest with me.
When the car arrived, while it was in good condition it really needed a lot of repairs. As the listing had expired, I did not have the protections afforded from eBay so I set about to fix the items that needed attention or that I wanted to upgrade. I wanted to restore this wonderful car and mostly did.
Basically, it was a good car...rare Sports Package (17" wheels, lowered suspension, Xenon headlights, DSC, M Sport steering wheel, Sports Seats and Steptronic transmission)...Premium Package (Power seats, power locks, sunroof, etc.) with Full Screen Navigation and the wonderful DSP premium sound system, 6 disk CD changer, sunroof, cruise, alarm, HomeLink and full leather interior.
This is a two owner car originally purchased in Miami and then by me. The owners maintained it very well based on the Carfax. The previous owner did a lot of work on the suspension and brakes as well as regular and proper maintenance. It has absolutely NO RUST anywhere. The interior is near perfect...no cracks, tears or even excessive wear.
I have owned many BMWs and the E39 is a great car. I had a new 2003 530i and it was one of the best new cars I ever bought. These are built well, solid, have good power, handle very well and are quite comfortable and luxurious. She is a cruiser.
In the past six months the following work has been completed:
Four new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires with high speed balance and four wheel alignment ($890), four refurbished BBS wheels ($1,300), new lugs nuts with locks and new center caps, REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION from Euro Trans in Georgia with warranty ($3,100), new windshield and gasket ($320), new windshield cowl and grommets ($135), new windshield washer nozzles, new Xenon headlights ($460), one new Xenon ballast ($185), new oil pan gasket ($390), new oil filter housing gasket ($285), new alternator ($435), new battery ($240), new water pump ($120), new fan belt and 3 new pulleys ($230), new A/C compressor ($420), new oil separator ($125), new spark plugs and ignition coils ($620), new engine and transmission mounts ($345), all 6 new under body panels ($485), four new jack pads ($135), new Lloyds floor mats ($140), new left and right cabin filter connectors ($165), all new filters - oil, fuel, air intake and cabin air ($260), synthetic oil change, fresh brake fluid, all new wipers, new front kidney grilles, new fog lamps, new tail light lens, new side lamps, new gas cap, new front hood emblem, fresh window tinting ($320), new outside side window shades from WeatherTech ($120), new factory mud flaps ($175) and two new factory keys ($285).
I have a local BMW factory trained mechanic who has gone over this car several times with instructions to fix or replace anything questionable. I have paid him nearly $3,500 moonlighting at $50 per hour. He is very good and loves this car.
In the interior I have replaced the console armrest with the European one that has storage in it, also new is the dashboard gauge surround, cup holders front and rear, the console change tray, the shift indicator trim, the seat rail trims, any wood trim that was discolored and the drivers door weatherstrip and seal.
All told, I have around $23,000 plus invested in this car. I am a car fanatic and wanted to fix and replace anything that was not right. This car needs nothing.
All of the electrical items work...lights, windows, central locks, seats, sunroof, radio, navigation, cruise control, horns, garage door opener, security system...everything. The A/C has been serviced and blows very cold. Steering is tight and brakes are very good. Transmission shifts fast and crisp. There are no leaks so no spots on your driveway.
The paint looks really good from six feet away. Closer and you do see some fading in a few areas, some light scratches and some chips but no door dings or curb rash and no accidents ever and again...no rust or corrosion.
Now of course you could buy one of these wonderful Sportwagens for less money. But also you must consider what you will spend on the car to make it right for you. This car has had all of that work completed and it is mechanically perfect...it will go for another 95,000 miles EASY.
So...why am I selling after doing all of this work to restore it? I was just recruited for a new job and it came with a new SUV...great deal and a great car...now I just have too many cars and no longer need this Sportwagen. I will lose a good bit of money on this sale as I had planned to keep her for a long time.
Please let me know if you have ANY questions.
I do reserve the right to end this auction at any time as it is for sale locally.
IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR ONE OF THESE WONDERFUL CARS...THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY! YOU WILL LOVE IT!
