1998 BMW 740iL w/ all service recs, fresh inspection and NO RESERVE
1998 BMW 7-Series Description
Hey all. Up for grabs is my 98 BMW 740iL. Here are some details:
I'm the second owner of the car, had it since July 2013, and purchased with 103k on it.Since then, I've replaced these things:
Valve Cover GasketsDiscs and PadsThermostatTons of suspension bits: every control arm, steering center link, sway bar links, some more stuff I can't remember. Point is, it rides beautifully now.All plugs and coilsAll brake linesPlenty more I'm forgetting, plus all dealer maintenance before I owned it. There's a binder two inches thick full of receipts (the total is eye-watering)
2-owner car, well maintained with all service history. 143k miles as it sits, doesn't get driven much now. I'm a detailing nerd so it's in great cosmetic condition considering its age (good paint, no cracks in leather, super clean all around). Really nice sled, PA inspected til 8/17. Some of these old BMW's have the feeling of financial horror emanating from them, this one doesn't. It's a good example.
Typical issues often plaguing these cars are all absent from this one.No scary timing chain rattles/noises. Oil changed frequently and doesn't burn.Instrument cluster was replaced, so all pixels on dash (stereo included) work perfectly.'Check control' shows all is well. All the interior electrics work well, no seat twist or faulty window regulators, etc.Cooling system has all been replaced. Radiator is free of leaks.
All the stuff you should know:The "brake" light on the dash is illuminated in red. The system works perfectly as far as I can tell, so the reason for the light is unknown to me. ABS module was switched out with one from another E38, but the light remains. Brakes were bled during the transfer. As ever with these cars, the diagnosis is what takes up all the time, I suspect the fix isn't too terrible. Take that for what you will. There's a wheel speed sensor that works intermittently. Three of these are new so I suspect the fourth one is on its way out. Plug and play fix, buy one from BMW for $150 or elsewhere for $20. Up to you.The headliner is succumbing to gravity in the back. Just needs resticking.Drivers door has two rust bubbles, smaller than dime size. Some rust in the battery well too, but nothing structurally worrisome.Runs on Michelin Primacy tires as it sits, not a ton of life left in them. The car comes with a nearly-new set of Blizzaks as well.
That's about it. NO RESERVE on this one, though I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Feel free to send questions. Thanks for looking!
