Evolve Motors is pleased to present this 1979 BMW 320i!
The Exterior:
This is one handsome little Bimmer. The car still wears its original Sepia Brown paint, which shows very well. Paint shines brilliantly and is free of scuffs and scratches, though there is some bubbling and visible surface rust on a handful of spots throughout the car. The most significant bubbling can be found just below the passenger tail light. Another noteworthy spot is just around the corner from the front, driver-side turn signal, where paint has flaked off. There are two small dings on the hood, as documented in the photos. All four wheels are in great shape, with nothing more than somewhat faded BMW centercaps. All glass is clean and clear, though there is a small rock chip on the windshield.
The Interior:
Tan leather interior shows well. Door panels are free of tears or scuffs. Interior flaws include a cracked dash, a crack in the bottom cushion of the driver’s seat, and slightly uneven carpet coloring in the passenger foot well. JVC RX415 head unit functions properly and speakers sound nice and crisp. A/C blows, though not cold. Steering wheel leather shows slight wear, though there is a perfect spare that will come along with the car.
Under the Hood / Under the Car:
The original 2.0L M10 4-cylinder engine has 109,000 miles on it, and has no leaks or known issues. The car was recently driven from the Chicago area to Minneapolis and back without a hiccup. Car idles nice and steady, stays cool, and shifts smoothly. Underbody looks good, with nothing to note other than slight surface rust. There is no through rot. There is some evidence of rust repair in the trunk. Spare wheel well and spare are in good shape. If there are any particular underbody components that you would like to see, please reach out and we would be happy to send more photos your way.
The Final Assessment:
With its small size, automatic transmission, reliable 123hp 4-cylinder motor, and driver-level cosmetics, this Bimmer is an excellent commuter. If you are in the market for a reliable daily driver that is both unique and stylish, I cannot think of a better car. We have been using the car as our lunch-getter at the office and it’s unanimous, everybody loves this little car! If interested, give us a call at Evolve Motors today!
