1991 850i 86,000 miles
1991 BMW 8-Series Description
For Sale is my 1991 BMW 850i. Low Mileage at 85,900.
Pretty good looking for a car that's over 25 years old. Runs a smooth as silk, shifts smooth, and all all items work as they should. Currently a CA car.
I bought the car in NV in 2010 and I have been the owner since the odometer read 12,000 miles. 85,900 original miles!
All electronics work as they should, power windows/seats/heated seats/radio/Check Control OK/interior and exterior lights/sunroof/traction control/ABS/cruise control/electronic adjustable steering wheel/visor lights/electronic trunk latch/alarm/locks all work as they should.
There are no check lights/engine or otherwise. Regular maintenance routine at Beemer Club in San Diego.
Work I have done to the car: I have records since I've owned it only.2010: transmission R/R with a rebuilt OEM model2011: Refinish tuning fork wheels.2012: check engine light: oxygen sensor-removed headers, remachined plate that runs on top of engine that would warp when cold and let air in. Almost all 850i's will experience this issue - it is a pain and expensive! Now runs extremely well.2014: R/R radiator, cooling fan, reservoir - runs cold and smooth.2015: personally removed master computer, unsoldered worn out capacitors that act up when cold, resoldered proper replacement capacitors to master computer, reinstalled works 4.0! This is a common issue that affects all 850i's: when the capacitors wear out and it's cold outside the car ends up having a mind of its own. Replacing the MC is expensive and the same capacitors are used, with newer higher quality capacitors this will no longer be an issue. Electronics work 100%2016: getting ready for sale service:R/R all fuel linesR/R all beltsFlush engine - oil changeRefresh all fluids - transmission/power steering/brakes2010-2016: lots of other small things to keep the car working and original.
Things the car needs:-The paint is probably a 7/10 - needs a few touch ups or just a respray. There are a few minor blemishes in the pictures, a ding, rock chips on hood, etc to be expected for a 25 yr old well taken care of but unrestored car.-Headliner hangs a little on the passenger side and is missing from the inner panel of the sunroof (shown in pictures)-Suspension bushings are worn and need replacing-needs new rear tires, front at 80%-brakes: eventually need a new master cylinder but work well now.
Googling common issues with 850i you will see that I have corrected most of them
Opportunity to own a modern classic. The car is very good looking, especially with the pillarless windows down and the panaroamic view. The car is a true GT car, great for cruising and listening to the smooth purr of the V12.
