1985 BMW 5-Series 535i Description

Runs, Drives, Stops (the stopping part needs some help) - Black/Cardinal, 6 Cylinder, Automatic Transmission (In 2008 it had $2000 worth of transmission work done) Build Date 11/84. Odometer stopped working shortly after I got it, so my guestimate is 240,000 miles. I drove it maybe 3 or 4 times a week into town 6 miles away and once a month to work about 200 miles round trip. Got it in 2009, drove it until 2012 (when I got a Honda Fit as a gift and gas was $4/gallon, so stopped driving the black beauty). Non Op status since 2013.
Added Info. 2/25/16: Well, I learned something I didn't know before. When a vehicle is listed on ebay, they use a service called "AutoCheck" (part of Experian) that lets you know the history of the vehicle. There was "minor accident or vehicle damage reported" on 2/11/91. It doesn't give any details other than that. That might explain why the nose of the hood has some paint missing and surface rust.
I started working on her about 2010 and replaced the following...

Radiator

Power Steering Hose

Front Axle Dust Covers (so different than original wheel covers would fit)

Front Brake Rotors & pads

Drive Shaft

Motor Mounts

Transmission Mounts

Cold Start Valve

Distributor Oil Gasket

Alternator

Instrument Cluster (insides)

Front Suspension: Meyle -

Upper Thrust/ Control Arms with 750 Bushing

Lower Thrust/Control Arms – Aluminum

Tie Rods and Ends, Center link, Idler Arm

Stabilizer Bar Link(Right and Left)

Rear Suspension –

Drive Axles (Half Shafts) Right and Left

Rear Trailing Arm to Axle Carrier Connecting Link (R & L)

Rear Stabilizing Bar Connecting Link (R & L)

Needs at least the following:

Brake lines under hood replaced (this is the "needs some help" from above)

Struts/Shocks etc. replaced and alignment

Valves Adjusted

Belts replaced

Parking brake button is stuck in the depressed position.

Windshield Wiper Blades

The not so good:

Paint - Some surface rust on hood, roof and rear deck/trunk lid. Clear coat missing/peeling on passenger front fender and door. Some white over spray on passenger side. A few door dings on both sides. Small dent in roof on drivers side near sunroof.

Seats - Driver seat very bad, Passenger seat ripped, very dry. All seats very dry. But hey 2 new front seat covers are included!!!

No Air Conditioning or Heater, Fan not working

Original Radio with Cassette – Powers up, might work if it had an antenna, cassette not working

Power Antenna - Not Working

Headliner - A few small rips and stained

Dashboard cracked in several places

Probably could use a new trunk gasket

Some Engine Oil and Automatic Transmission fluid leakage.

On Board Computer thing doesn't work..well, it lights up...sometimes.
