1957 BMW Isetta 300 Description

The BMW Isetta iscertainly one of the more unique micro cars ever made!

With its unique front door, to its 'egg' shape, to its massive 13hp motor,

This is a classic micro car that has been

Climbing in value quietly and steadily and

Is expected to continue this climb.

In fact.....

Two sold this past January of 2016, at the Barrett Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ.

One for $44,000 and one for $60,500!!!

The car's origins were in Milan, Italy at the scooter and refrigerator company of ISO SpA, run by Renzo Rivolta. Called Isetta, or "little Iso", the car was a startling, totally unconventional design that caused a furor at its introduction in Turin, Italy in November of 1953. From this influential debut, the brand was licensed to BMW of Germany.

It was seen by BMW as filling a gap between their motorcycles and the luxury 501 models. The car was redesigned to except the 250cc 4-stroke engine from the BMW R-25 motorcycle. The finished car was announced in April of 1955 and went into production shortly after. The quirky little "motocoupe", as it was called by BMW, became the dream of the working man, and by November of 1955, 10,000 had been built. In February of 1956, came a 298cc motor. In September of that year the re-designed 'sliding window' model made its debut, looking altogether more harmonious. In 1957, over 22,000 examples of the "egg" rolled off the line, its biggest year ever. Also 1957 was the only year that the 2-tone paint scheme was offered.

This particular 1957 is an example of the classic German spec export Isetta, featuring a two-tone in the paint colors, (Japan Red over Ivory), the vents up front designating a 'deluxe' model and the dual wipers which indicates that it was built for sale in California.

I am very proud to offer this very well sorted

1957 BMW Isetta 300 Deluxe!!

When considering any other Isetta in the market today,

The #1 factor in your buying decision of, "is it a good value?" is...

Has the motor been maintained and or re-built?!?

I mean, the main reason to buy a car is to drive it, right?

There are quite a few being offered for sale today that have been "freshly restored" and to the "highest cosmetic standards", BUT that certainly doesn't guarantee that it will be able to be driven!

I consulted with and hired THE VERY BEST IN THE USA to restore and rebuild this particular BMW Isetta....

Perry from Perry's Motorcycles & Sidecars of Ft. Worth, TX

And Werner from Isettas "R" Us of Woodstock, GA.

These gentlemen are the foremost experts in the restoration, rebuilding and general history and knowledge of the BMW Isetta and its motor.

My 'little Isetta' was in very good cosmetic condition when I purchased it, no rust, no body damage and it started and drove, but the motor had been neglected, and did not sound right or run properly. So I made the decision to seek out the very best experts to bring it back to original running condition and at the same time, I had the rest of the Isetta restored and or checked from the ground up in a successful effort to maintain Factory correctness and originality throughout!

Now, this 1957 BMW Isetta 300 Deluxe, finished in its correct Japan Red over Ivory, presents itself very well in person!

Any collector or BMW fanwill be proud to own it!!!

The car has received a complete mechanical overhaul with the intention of keeping everything correct and original. The engine, transmission, and all components have been freshly rebuilt and refitted to the car. All mechanical components have been checked and or disassembled, rebuilt or replaced with period correct OEM parts, reassembled and

test driven by Werner Schwark of Isettas "R" Us.

The turn signals work, the headlights work, even the horn works, the car shifts through the gears correctly and it stops properly. The OEM, white sidewall bias ply tires are a bit rough when driving above 40 mph. (but they look great). The odometer on the original speedometer gauge read 8842 miles but the gears inside were to far gone to correct, so a OEM replacement was fitted with 0 miles. (it now has 7 miles, as Werner and I have driven it)

You will have a hard time finding a better running and driving example that is climbing in value. It is absolutely 1st rate!

I have the Isetta for sale on a number of sites so this offer could end.

I have many additional pictures of the process of the restoration along with documentation of the repairs and or the parts purchased, if you would like any of this additional info, I can email it to you.

Please proceed in confidence with the understanding that you are buying the best of the classic BMW Isetta 300 Deluxe.

This is a rare opportunity to own a truly classic BMW.

Thank you for your careful consideration, I really want this car to go to a great home and to someone who will enjoy it!

Please feel free to call me at 435-770-6270or email me through eBay.
