1975 BMW 2002 Resto-Mod
1975 BMW 2002 Description
Hi all, up for bid is my 1975 BMW 2002. This is a CA smog exempt vehicle. Unfortunately I've only had it for a year and a half and I've only driven about 500 miles. I recently purchased a new home and have not had any time for my '02. On top of this, I need a more useable 2nd car.
This '02 is said to have close to 44k original miles. I don't know if this is true and I don't have any documentation showing such. The odometer and speedo don't work. I also don't have any receipts of the build, the previous owner didn't keep any of it. I do know that it was built by the him and the Manofied shop in LA. If you Google "Manofied BMW", you will see some of their work including this car. Really nice stuff. Everything else works, including all interior/exterior lights, coolant temp, fuel gauge etc. The aftermarket oil temp and coolant temp gauge are not hooked up yet. Here are some specs I can provide which came from the previous owner. Most parts here I believe are from Ireland Engineering.

The overall condition of the car is great. The paint isn't concourse quality but it's actually pretty good. The paint quality and consistency I would say is 8 or 9/10. The condition of the paint is 9/10. There is a pee sized imperfection under the paint just under the pass side rear window. If it's a rust bubble, it hasn't changed since I've owned the car. The trunk is carpeted, I carefully inspected the entire veh before purchase including the shock towers. They did repair some minor rust in the floor board, the section they cut out, if memory serves me right, was about the size of a softball. I could not find any other rust or previous major damage. I'm a BMW Master Tech of 11yrs, so I'm not exactly a noob. I did crack the front spoiler on a steep driveway, so I removed it (I like the look without it anyways). It would easily repairable.
One of the ball joints in the steering is worn, I ordered all new steering arms, if I don't get a chance to install before pickup, I will deduct $300 from the winning bid price so you can have them installed, or install yourself.
This is a really fun car to drive, it drives dead straight on a flat freeway and is surprisingly compliant for how good it handles! It sounds great too! I've really enjoyed taking it to cars and coffee, it's often a favorite.
Feel free to ask any questions, I want to be as thorough as possible to any perspective buyers. This is an awesome car and it deserves and awesome owner. Good luck!
I will be adding things here as they come to mind incase I forgot anything:-One small annoyance, due to the aggressive wheel/suspension setup, you can't steer to full lock. I've been meaning to address this, but have not had any time to do so. I've also gotten used to it so now it doesn't bother me.
