2012 BMW 7-Series LI - X DRIVE Description

The seven series information;

The 2012 BMW 7 Series sedans comes in standard and long versions, the latter designated by an L in the numeric nomenclature.The BMW 740Li, 750Li and 760Li have a wheelbase that's 5.5 inches longer than that of the 740i and 750i.They're a little harder to parallel park, but they offer a ride that's even more luxurious and have considerably more rear-seat legroom.So the L models are the better choice for buyers who frequently put adults in the back seat.The long-wheelbase cars have their own roofline, and the silhouette is sleek.

Short or long, all BMW 7 Series models have presence wherever they go.The 7 Series body has no transparently gratuitous scoops or scallops, and the car's size and lines clearly say first class.

The 7 Series interior is classy and luxurious, like a richly appointed, roomy cocoon, protecting occupants from an ornery world.Just about every safety, comfort or convenience feature invented for the automobile is available on the 7 Series.Some of the controls and features are overly complicated, however.

Yet dynamic verve is what really distinguishes the BMW 7 Series: a combination of response, acceleration, smooth ride and sharp handling that few large sedans can match.Weight-efficient construction and innovative chassis technology contribute to the lively driving dynamics that many expect from a BMW.

The BMW 750i and 750Li feature a new-generation V8 engine, with direct fuel injection and twin turbocharging.This 4.4-liter V8 makes 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, awesome numbers for an engine its size, while using less fuel than its predecessor to get occupants around town.It's matched to a 6-speed automatic transmission.The BMW 760Li ups the ante with a 535-hp V12 and an 8-speed automatic.All 7 Series models come with BMW's Brake Energy Regeneration system, which captures energy lost as the car slows to charge the battery.

All-wheel drive adds all-weather capability to the 750xi and 750Lxi and, in our opinion, does so without ruining the sporty handling characteristics found in the rear-wheel-drive models.

This Particular 750 Li x drive:

This is my wife's ultimate driving machine. It has been well maintained and is in beautiful condition. It has new brakes and rotors, tires and alignment, and a new 36 month AGM battery - all about one thousand miles ago. The only detrimental items are :

1. A ding in the rear passenger door on the drivers side about the width of a silver dollar. It is not big enough to show on the pictures.

2. There is a gouge in the front lower spoiler from a run in with a high curb. (the curb always wins these battles) and it is shown in the pictures.

3. The is some curb rash on the drivers side front wheel. You can see it in the pictures.

The other detriment is that the car was involved in a minor accident to the right front that required the replacement of the right inner and outer fender. Upon completion of that repair the car would not start. The engine computer is located near the front right fender and the insurance company replaced the vehicle for the customer at that point due to the expense of the computer system and the car was sent to auction. A different BMW dealer (Magnum BMW of New York City) purchased the car with the intent of installing a new computer operating system. When they began to remove the old system they determined that the previous body shop forgot to ground thecomputerto the new front right fender. Once grounded, it firedrightup.

Magnum BMW gave me a very fair price based upon their easy fix. I still had to have the car inspected as a salvage vehicle because the insurance company feared it was a total loss and paid the owner to replace it. The inspection was completed and the vehicle has a New York Rebuilt title. It should not be a problem registering it in any state, if you have any doubt, contact me and I will find out your states guidelines. It was inspected at the local BMW dealership and all servicecampaign and updates were also performed. The car is as new and I would encourage a buyers inspection. If you win the car here on ebay and are not 100% delighted with it when you pick it up,haveyou do not have to take it and your deposit will be returned!

Other negative items before I gush positively about the car:

1. It is really big. If you are planning on driving in a big city and parking quite a bit, you should consider afiveseries. This seven L series is made for comfort and luxury not commuting in tight urban areas. It also gets very mediocre gas mileage due to its size and weight, so if that is a concern, look elsewhere.

2. BMW's new system of charging the battery with the alternator only when the car isdecelerating, was not the best plan. If you drive less than a few miles on your commute, the BMWs will not not stay fully charged. You need to drive at least three miles or so on a route where youoccasionallydecelerate.Of course, this is true for about 80% of people, but is you are in the twenty percent was a very short commute, don't buy these cars or you will have to plug them into a trickle charger to maintain the battery, kind of ridiculous on a $100,000 dollar car.

Now for the positive. If you take everything theGermanauto makers have learned and know and put all the best into onevehicle, this is it. In comfort mode its like a limo, and in the sport setting, its like a Porsche Turbo. The cabin is as luxurious and well appointed as any in the world. There is so much space and comfort you can ride in it forever. It is loaded with options and functions from sunshades to selfclosingdoors (you never have to slam a door or the trunk)
