2000 BMW Z3 2.5L Roadster Convertible in Atlanta Blue Metallic with tan top and interior as seen on the James Bond Goldeneye movie.
It has around 127,XXX miles on it. I have always loved the look of the Z3 (especially in this color) but it's just too small for me and my wife to commute together every day It's an excellent weekend fun machine or solo daily-driver but we are trying to downsize the amount of vehicles since we bought a larger convertible for every day and weekend and can't keep both.
After I bought it, before driving it to work every day, I had the engine thoroughly gone through so I'd know it was ready to go anywhere. Shop bill of almost $1,500 of work on it since we got it: a tune-up on the engine (new premium plugs, belt, fluids-Mobil1 Synthetic plus as all of the BMW engines this age, the oil filter housing gasket was leaking when I bought it so that has been replaced as well as the air intake filter, intake baffles, MAF sensor and crankcase breather valve (essentially everything that needed to be done to keep this vehicle running like a top for the next 100k miles). Also, for the days when you can't put the top down, the AC system has been inspected and coolant has been recharged and everything is operating correctly and blowing ice cold air.
I believe the 2.5L straight 6 cyl e36 type motor is one of the best BMW ever made, easy to work on and has a nice exhaust hum, lots of power for such a small car.
Cosmetic issues: The convertible top will soon need to be replaced if the vehicle will be kept outside - If it's garaged and driven on nice days, you could get much longer life out of the top (especially since it's best driving with the top down - DIY top replacement is around $400 and 6 hours labor; shop cost is around $1,000).
Front bumper has kissed a curb and needs some minor work and repaint. Back bumper needs clearcoat stripped and reapplied.
The driver leather seat has a split in the seam and the small plastic trim around some areas of the door panel needs attention (I've replaced some already but not all).
Passenger window motor will need to be replaced soon and just like all the Z3's it has a sagging glovebox.
I planned to fix all these little cosmetic things over time, as they are to be expected of a 16 y.o. vehicle but absolutely no mechanical issues.
No mechanical issues whatsoever - take it anywhere!
This is a great running, great looking, fun-to-drive little car that has been in Florida since new!
