Black/Tan BMW X5 3.0i with Manual Transmission
2002 BMW X5 Description
For sale is a 2002 BMW X5. I bought this car about 3 years ago and it's been very dependable - almost 80,000 miles in the past 3 years! This is the "base" model X5 with a stick shift - these are hard to find! This car is in great shape considering that it's 15 years old and has high mileage. There are a few paint chips and a scuff on the front bumper - not significant as they don't show up in the pictures but worth mentioning so that you're not surprised. I can take close up pictures, just ask! It still gets around 20 mpg and uses about 1 qt of oil per 1,000 miles on the freeway (BMW set these cars up to turn higher revs on the freeway, I assume to feel more "sporty"). Shortly after I bought it I had the radio display repaired, so there are no dead pixels on the display. The transfer case (center differential) was rebuilt about 40,000 miles ago (new chain). In the past year I replaced the blower motor. In the past month I rebuilt the shifter linkage with new bushings and replaced the rubber bushings with Delrin from ECS Tuning. I can add that this X5 is in great shape and doesn't show signs of rust underneath.
As you'd expect, there are a couple issues. There is currently a check engine light on for a bad O2 sensor. I had some issues getting the exhaust out when rebuilding the transfer case and the post-cat sensor was damaged (even though from the outside it appears to be in good shape). This does not affect drivability but wouldn't pass an emissions test. There is an airbag light on, which came on after the dash was taken apart to replace the heater blower. The problem may be with the connector under the driver's seat, but I haven't been able to pinpoint the fault (otherwise it would be fixed already). Also, the heater controls are a little sticky - the control can be turned to any position between floor and defrost and the upper vents, but can't be turned through the defrost only position. The aftermarket headlights are a few months old, but the passenger side "angel eye" light has wiggled out - everything is still there but the LEDs need to be put back in the right place. Finally, it's probably obvious from the pictures but there is some cracking in the upper part of the driver's seat. The seat cushion and upholstery was replaced but I could not find a new seat back.

This is a great SUV for someone who needs a bigger vehicle but prefers a manual transmission. If you're local, send me an email if you'd like to take a look prior to making an offer and we can set up a time. This is also offered for sale locally, so the listing may end early. Thanks for looking!
