2000 BMW M5 Sedan 4-Door 4.9L 103k miles w/ Maintenance Records
2000 BMW M5 Base Sedan 4-Door Description
Selling my 2000 E39 M5. It is a Dinan S1 which includes the Dinan tune, Dinan short shifter, Dinan exhaust, etc. Other upgrades include a new ZHP shift knob and OEM Hella Facelift tail lights.
The car has all service records from myself and the previous two owners. I also have the vehicle inspection that was done when I originally purchased the vehicle. I never daily drove this, so in total I've only put on about 500-600 miles on the car since taking ownership.
Car is rust free as it has lived its life in CA/AZ.
Vehicle options that this car has:
- Heated front seats
- Xenon headlights
- Window shades on the rear window and rear doors.
- Rear PDC
- Anthracite Gray Metallic exterior with a Caramel leather interior. Pretty rare combo, one of 17.
- Luxury heritage leather seats, much more comfortable than the standard M5 sport seats.
- DSP sound system
- Folding rear seats
Things that have been done to the car recently:
- Replaced timing chain tensioner (preventive maintenance)
- Rod bearings + all gaskets: these often go bad with these high-revving engines. With the new rod bearings, this engine is good to go for at least another 100,000 miles.
- Motor mounts: done with the rod bearings
- OEM Hella facelift taillights: these were installed recently with the official Hella kit which included the ballasts. The LEDs work perfectly without any flashing or error codes.
- ZHP shift knob: tightens up shifts even further, and it just feels great in your hand.
- Valve cover gaskets: they weren't leaking much at all, but I did them just to have it done.
- New spark plugs: NGK Iridiums all around
- General maintenance: new air filters, new cabin air filters, new oil filter, new fuel filter, fresh oil change with Castrol TWS 10W60 (which has been used for every oil change since this car was new). All of the filters are quality German ones like Mann/Bosch/Hengst, no cheap Autozone stuff here.
- New clear side markers, trunk emblem, and trunk struts. It's the little things that count.
Other good things to note:
- Nearly new tires: Bridgestone Potenzas in the front and Dunlop Direzzas in the rear. They both have 90% of their tread left.
- New brake pads + rotors: drilled rotors with Akebono ceramic pads all around. These ceramic pads make for almost no brake dust, which is great for keeping the wheels clean.
- No missing pixels on the updated gray M5 cluster.
- Driveshaft flex disc (guibo) and transmission mounts are pretty new as well.
- Clutch feels great with no slipping. With the short shifter and ZHP knob it's one of the nicest feeling manual transmissions ever.
- All of the window regulators work perfectly.
- Seats are all in good working order, with no twisting of any kind. All of the seat controls work perfectly, including heating and adjustable lumbar support.
- Cooling system is in great shape and the car has never overheated. It has newer radiator hoses and a new coolant temperature sensor.
- Power steering system doesn't leak at all, which is amazing because it usually leaks with these cars. The power steering hoses are pretty new, the reservoir is new, and the fluid is in good condition.
- Accessory belts are nearly new as well.
- Straight body with no major dents or dings.
- Newer ignition switch and headlight switch. These often break with age so it's nice to have those replaced.
The not so good things:
- The caramel leather seats are quite worn. The driver's side is in good shape, but the passenger seat is really cracked. Not sure how that happened, but that's how I got the car. I mostly drive it on my own so it hasn't bothered me. The back seat is in pretty good shape though.
- The paint has typical wear and tear. There are plenty of rock chips on the hood and front bumper, and some wear around the roof, presumably from a previous owner using a roof rack. The clear coat is in good shape though, with none of the fading or peeling you'd expect from a car in Arizona. This is because this car lived most of its life in California in a garage, and it's garaged here in Arizona as well.
- The tint is not in the best shape due to its age. If I were keeping the car I'd redo it a few shades darker.
