2001 BMW X5 3.0i Sport Utility 4-Door 3.0L Rare Red NO RESERVE
2001 BMW X5 3.0i Sport Utility 4-Door Description
2001 BMW X5 3.0 148K
Runs and drives great, put over 1000 miles on it last month. Needs a couple maintenance items that I listed below with dealership prices to fix. Overall a very nice SUV, I am the second owner. Please view all photos and ask questions before bidding.
Exterior- 7.5/10- has a crease in back lift gate from hitting garage door and a couple chips in rear bumper. Overall better that 95% of the others I see on the road, most people assume this a much newer BMW. No rust whatsoever. Tires are brand new. Rims have no curb rash.
Interior- 7/10- Drivers seat has some bolster wear and in the back it appears a pen exploded on the carpet, I'm sure it could be cleaned up.
Reason for cheap price is it needs 2 control arms, rear shock bushings, and possibly a throttle body. The dealer quoted a little under $2000 for all of this; dealer part costs were around $800 with the rest being labor. Aftermarket control arms and bushings can be had for under $300. It still runs and drives, just 2 days ago I drove it 400 miles round trip to Columbus. When starting from a standstill you hear a creek from the rear (Bushings) and when braking it pulls to the left (Control arms worn). The check engine light comes on with code P1632 occasionally and puts it into limp mode; you have to clear the code for the computer to reset. The code is for the throttle body, a used part is about 50 bucks, new part from the dealer around 350.
Please remember this is a 16-year-old SUV, every other X5 this old you see on eBay will need the same work or more that this car will. You could chose not to do the above work and drive it as-is, but it wont handle like a BMW should. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car across the country tomorrow. Ask questions before bidding. I'm located in Chesterland Ohio.
