1986 BMW 3-Series Description

Here is my 1986 325e with Luxus package. I bought it in June 2014, imported the car from NY state to Canada. I absolutely wanted an early e30 (didn't matter if it was a 318i, 325e or 325i, and I needed a 4 door) and it had to be original, unmolested.

It was a one owner car until June 2014, with 74 000 documented miles, meticulously maintained by previous owner. I have maintenance records and log book from day one, plus window sticker and original bill of sale. Clean title. No accidents, alpine white, 5 speed manual, cardinal red leather, rear headrests, mint interior, perfect uncraked dash. It was a daily driver from 1986 to 1992, then an occasional weekend/summer driver.

Everything works: ice cold AC, sunroof, power windows, door locks, cruise, fog lights, power antenna, wipers, horn, all lights, turn signals, etc... I dont like modified or lowered e30s with huge wheels, and this one is factory spec. The only two things not original are the radio, (but I still have original one) and the stainless steel exhaust.

Since June 2014, timing belt, water pump, T-stat, distributor cap, plugs, plug wires, coil, battery, front cam seal, filters, intake boot, hood strut, coolant temperature sensor, fuel pump valve, driver door stop, and one power window switch were replaced. The right outer tie rod end was replaced. I got my mechanic to replace fuel and brake lines that had surface rust. I got the bumper trim repainted and restored, and the exterior professionally detailled, the wheel cap emblems replaced. I fixed the power antenna. The right rear quarter panel was also repaired and repainted because of surface rust. Previous owner had replaced hood and trunk roundels.

It runs perfect, starts instantly, idles smoothly, cruises effortlessly. It needs nothing. It passed the mandatory (where I live) safety inspection every year, last inspection on April 12 2017 when tie rod end was replaced and 4 wheel aligment done. Brakes, suspension, exhaust, body and floors, all glass, wipers, horn, lights and signal lights are checked during yearly inspection. Oil and filter change also done on April 12 2017.

Absolutely no leaks, garage floor is bone dry. Only negatives, the alpinweiss paint is a bit yellowed in my opinion, and the differential cover and the fuel vent cover (behind right rear wheel) have surface rust. Floors and rockers are solid, no holes. Also the trunk light blows a fuse when connected, so I disconnected it.

I paid too much for the car, and I spent quite a bit to make it close to perfect. But I really enjoyed it. I use it as a week end summer driver. I never drive it in winter, snow or rain, car is always garaged.

Originally from the US, it is very easy to import back to USA. Car is 10 minutes away from Bathurst airport where I can pick you up, and I would not hesitate to drive back the car across the continent.

Hereare a short walk around video and ashort drive video.

I can take and send more pictures on request. Pre purchase inspections and test drives are welcome. Do not hesitate to ask any questions. My reserve is much lower than what I have in the car.
