runs&drives OKbut MAY need 2 be TOWED due to transmission issue? cracked glass
2007 BMW X5 3.0si Sport Utility 4-Door Description
BMW X5 3.0si E70 model withnormally aspirated engine without any turbos etc. for the price that BMW X5 E53 previous modelscould go for. I just drove it from East Coast to California as I wanted to see good friends in Arizona on the way. In California in Los Angeles in heavy traffic I got Transmission Malfunction and computer told me that car could be driven but slowly and it had reduced acceleration. The manual shifting got switched off on it but it runs and drives(and reduced acceleration is not too huge but I still drive it like an adult with savvy). It can be driven and I was even thinking of driving it from San Francisco to Los Angeles as it was supposed to be shipped to Europe for use in Europe( made in US co costs way more in EU!). By VIN this car was made in S Carolina/US. Please assume the car will probably need a new transmission even though I have noidea if this is the case -still - caveat emptor buyer beware. Before I departed from NC I did oil change &installed new filter for oil and air, put magnet drain plug. As per BMW spec BMW has claimed transmissions are not serviceable and should not be opened. I guess it is BMW so I did as per BMW recommendations and did not do any flush or add any transmission fluids. Maybe I should have ignored BMW recommendations and I would this way never get this error.
The car has active free of charge replacement of fuel pump and I think 2 airbags that BMW is supposed to do for free for it. I have title and registration from North Carolina in my only name in hand (registration valid till March 2018). This car was made in US so given the issue I think I will not take it to EU. Had it been made in Germany I would have.
The car runs&drives but may need to be TOWED as up a hill it might not climb up.
In autocheck it shows that vehicle hadhad2 accidents but I do not see it was ever towed from those accidents. So my assumption, not sure becasue I did not haveany accdents in it,is those were some minor issues. I see other BMWs X5s on sale at ebay where autocheck states that those other vehicles were TOWEDAWAY from accidents.
additional issues in addition to transmission malfunction: -front glass has a crack - need to glued or probably replaced-engine light on. it had been on since I got fuel pump force me to start it after it cools off after refuelling. When hot it starts up after 2 cranks usually so this is fuel pump issue. You can go to BMW and have them keep it till they have fuel pump available as for this recall they all wait for pumps from Germany and demand you get a loaner. I drove it with no issues from NC to LAX and it had 21-24mpg (factory says its gas mileage is 23mpg I think). In LA in heavy traffic I got the transmission malfunction issue.-all lights are good but for the two on the hatch that I removed bulbs from (hence computer says left/right rear brake light). Those are auxiliary lights. They are not needed as those are those additional lights on hatch.-park is lit up as yellow (not red as in PARK brakeengaged)parking brake needs adjustment. I have driven without adjusting it and never had any issues. Youtube has videos how to regulate the PARK brake to get rid of this message on dash. I had not time to deal with it-seat calibration. BMW has seat memory 'ceremony' and they need to be calibrated. in manual it states how to do that. I had no time to deal with it given the tense schedule.
Car has:* LEATHER SEATING in excellent condition* 18 INCH WHEELS WITH GOOD TIRES (INSTALLED 5/9/17)* PARKING SENSORS* 7 SEATS (VERY RARE)* HUGE PANORAMIC SUNROOF* AMAZING 3.0 INLINE 6 ENGINE (no failure prone TURBOS)* 4X4 WITH ALL SPEED TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITY CONTROL* XENON HEAD LIGHTS
This is just for legal reasons: Car is sold as is where is without any express or implied warranty of any kind. Buyer is responsible for checking it but I have done all I could to describe it with maximum diligence. I had made about 5K miles on it and it had not had any transmission errors up until this Sunday. Please feel free to ask ANY questions you may have. Please see Carfax for more info on it. You can see that you can get transmissions for it from car-part.com or ebay starting around $900.There isone on ebay for $600 for this car. Any car you buy with 80K+ miles for whatever price may have same issue and you pay up front for less mileage - one can never be sure it will not happen.
I will accept CASH only or cashier checks from Bank of America issued at BofA branch in my presence by cashier of the bank. I hate to see the car go but I do not have the option to fix it and ship- I would have to stay in US longer to do that and I have no one in the US so I cannot even leave the car parked on the street in San Francisco etc. but I would have to store it and pay per month for storage fees. Please feel free to email if you have any questions.
I reserve the right to back out of sale at any time for any reason or no reason if I deem transaction to be unsafe or I am not comfortable with it. Car will NOT BE DELIVERED UNTIL FULL PAYMENT HAS CLEARED AND A SIMPLE CAR PURCHASE CONTRACT HAS BEEN SIGNED. $500 of non refundable deposit due via PAYPAL within 48 hours. It will be applied to remaining purchase price. "DEPOSIT IS NON REFUNDABLE" so please be sure you have money before you decide to buy and should you change your mind it will NOT BE REFUNDED.
I see 5 people watching auction.......please do NOT hesitate to make me A REASONABLE OFFER AND I SHALL CONSIDER AND ENGAGE IN A REASONABLE DISCUSSION.
It is a used car and the buyer is requested, asked and responsible for inspecting it. I have decribed it as diligently as I possibly only could but since it is a used car and a BMW at that I am requesting that you inspect it or have it inspected by a qualified person specializing in BMW.
