I purchased this 2012 35i X5 thru a local shop. The engine is defective and the owner does not want to fix so I purchased from owner. There was no full diagnostic done on the engine. It was running when it entered the shop but there was a noise in the engine and the shop diagnosed as a timing chain issue and possible oil pump issue. There was metal found in the oil when drained. The engine was partially disassembled to access timing chain but shop advised owner to simply replace engine.
This is a nice vehicle and loaded with options. The engine is likely fixable but I've found several engines between 30-75K in millage for $4-$5K, but before I go this route I'm simply going to try and sell as is as I already have 3 other rebuild projects going.
This is what I know, other than the engine I was told everything else is working as it should. I don't know what packages this has but the shop said it has Premium, Cold Weather and Sport packages. I have a list of options I'll post below and many support what the shop said.
NADA is $20,250 and Kelly's as private party good condition $18,277
All the parts removed are accounted for and in in the cargo compartment.
The front bumper skin was pulled out and scuffed a little. I don't know how it happened but it looks like someone pushed it. I don't see anything broken and it all looks like it will snap right back in place. I also think the scuffs will buff out. The rest of the body is nice. Tires are all in nice condition except one looks like it might be a spare. I have not confirmed the spare but will as soon as this rain lets up and I can dig out the cargo compartment.
The interior is nice except for drivers seat bottom cushion. I've never seen one so bad but was told that the girl who drove this always wore shorts and always used lotion on her legs, which over time took its toll on the leather.
I have one fully functioning key and a clear title.
