2008 BMW Z4 SI Description
2008 BMW Z4 3.0 Si
History:
I purchased this car in December 2014 with 62k for $11,000From a private seller in NJ, it already had a rebuilt title. The previous owner completed the repairs. I only saw the pictures he provided of the previous damage, which was quite minor. He replaced a a panel on the drivers side, below the door, and a control arm.
Service:
During my ownership I have service receipts for approx $4500I took care of issues as they arose, as well as normal service.I replaced the run flats with regular tires - it drives SO much better.(If you're looking at a Z4 that still has the first gen of run flats - I would advise asking for them to be replaced before buying - they are that incompatible with this car!)
I replaced all four rotors and pads - upgraded to brembo rotors on rear. And upgraded front rotors & pads (slotted and cross drilled). And no dust pads.I just put a new MAF filter in - as it was throwing a code.
Always used Mobil One oilNew spark plugs.
Modifications:
Muffler deleteRegulator deleteSounds like a real roadster not obnoxious, gets plenty of positive comments! (But it does make backfire noises when you lift of the throttle, so may not be to everyone's taste - I can take a video, and provide on request email.)
Power train:
Engine, the car pulls strong. Gets over 30mpg on the highway. No known issues whatsoever.Clutch and gearbox are great.
Bodywork:
The car received damage solely by being parked on public roads in my home town of Philadelphia.Front fender and hood damaged from a severe wind storm, something metallic flew off a neighbors house and landed on my car.
The rear fender was damaged whilst parked, hit and run.
I was quoted at fixing all the damage -installing a front fender (which is primed steel and included with car)
painting the fender, painting the hood, painting the passenger door to blend in the new part.Fixing the rear fender, and also polishing the headlight to make them clear again. For $2700.
The rear rims have been "banged up" due to poor conditions of the roads here in the east coat. Potholes etc. they can be fixed for approx $100 -$150 each. The drivers side, rear rim, is the most heavily dinged up. Causes vibration and shake at highway speeds.
Powerhood:
The hood no longer operates.Worked fine during 2015On the first use in Spring 2016 it no longer worked.Seems to be a common systemic issue, of the motor failing - essentially it seems to be too weak. From YouTube videos looks like a DIY job to replace.
Summary:
I hate to see this car go. But I have house repairs that need attending to.
It can easily be brought back to former glories. It's still a head turner even now.but more importantly as is. Still a exhilarating, rewarding car to drive. It's a real sports car in the ultimate definition. (I've owned TT's GTI's etc, they don't compare, even the venerable 3 series can't hold a candle to the smiles this car generates when you get behind the wheel)Inline Six.Manual box.Low slung,Drivers position towards the rear, over the rear powered wheels.Fun, with lots of character.
I have set a realistic reserve price.A $500 PayPal deposit on winning the auction.I am open to ending the auction early to interested parties, looking to conclude a speedy sale. Either from this auction or locally offline.
Cheers - I will try to respond to questions as they come in.
