2000 BMW M5 Description

This example has been very well maintained and I would keep it if it were not for the fact that I work from home and no longer have a need for this car.

This car truly is in great shape, you will see below that I am knit picking at the car and have many pictures since I know buying something off of the web can be daunting without proper pics and descriptions. If you have any questions, call me, email me or put questions below. The car has had one prior accident, not during my ownership in 2010.

Recent work done to it:

1.)Ignition Coils (I attached the estimate- Originally they were going to replace the plugs and wires and got in there and they were new) I have the actual receipt in a folder at home. The guy I bought it from told me he did this, but he didn’t have a receipt, so I wanted proof.

2.)2 oil changes and it’s due for a 3rd. BMW says 7K- I like 5K

3.)Secondary Air Pump P04911- Shark Injector tuned to factory European settings no RPM adjustments etc. (If you’re not familiar with this problem, there are thousands of posts on the M5 board about it. Don’t do what I did and read all of them. Scroll to the end. This is the most common problem on these cars and from what I could tell it wasn’t if but when on any of them https://www.turnermotorsport.com/t-tech-E39-M5-Carbon-Build-Up)

4.)UUC short shift kit and new shift knob (which is not yet installed)- Factory shifter on these cars had way to long of a throw. Maybe the only major flaw on the car, except for the SAI problem.

5.)All new tires- Approx 2-3.5K on BF Goodrich G-Force

6.)New control arm bushing- front right.

7.)Alignment.

8.)All of the rims have been resurfaced

9.)New front brakes and rotors same time as tires.

10.)Rear bumper was replaced and painted when during tire issue, which was nice b/c it had too many scratches for my liking.

Known Issues:

1.)Once every few hundred miles I get this code P1343. It’s misfire on cylinder 1, and it is always cylinder 1. The car will run rough, but if I turn it off and back on the car runs fine. This could not happen for a few hundred miles then happen twice in two days and then not happen for a hundred more miles. Thus the plugs, wires, coil, etc. I’ve narrowed it down to the fuel injector (I think). The past few tanks I’ve been putting injector cleaner in it and the period of time between when it happens is getting longer. It’s a tough problem to troubleshoot, b/c the 2 shops I’ve taken it too can never get it to throw the code or misfire.

2.)The tape deck works, but does not eject.

3.)The rear view mirror is there and functional, but needs to be replaced. (Hard to describe, but you’ll see)

4.)The driver’s side mirror needs clear coat and glass has delaminated. See picture.

5.)The automatic sunscreen for the rear window stopped working. I haven’t had time to troubleshoot this, but it sounds like it’s just stuck.

6.)The front passenger M5 doorsill plate is coming apart.

7.)Steering wheel is worn at top, see picture.
