1998 BMW Z3 Description

1998 BMW Z3 1.9 liter 4cyl. 116,000 miles. $5500. Richmond, RI.
Purchased this Z3 in November of 2015. Have made some improvements since I purchased it. The car runs and drives great. Inspected until 2018. In addition to the work that the previous owner did to the car, I have installed the drivers light switch, replaced the passengers side headlight, replaced the third brake light, replaced all bulbs and got them working correctly, fuel injector hoses replaced, intake manifold gasket replaced, 4-wheel alignment, left inner tie-rod end replaced, installed front license plate mount, seat spacers replaced so seats don't slide upon accelerating and braking, driveshaft flex disc (guibo) replaced, purchased a car stereo - but have not installed it, and cleaned up the paint. The car will sell with a premium car cover, a brand new car stereo with wiring harness, convertible top tonneau cover, two BMW Peake engine code readers, the lower dash pieces, and a used replacement carpet for the interior. I have had the car looked at at the BMW dealership and the inspection noted that there is a power steering fluid seep that still requires a power steering hose from reservoir to pump, a transmission fluid seep that still requires a shifter shaft seal, and an engine oil seep that still requires a valve cover gasket. It was also recommended that the upper and lower timing case gaskets and front crankshaft seal be replaced. The heater control unit will also need to be replaced. It works, but is unable to go into defog setting.
With a little bit of work this car will go from good to excellent. Here is the posting from when I purchased it in November 2015 so you know more about the car. Text me or email me with any questions. $5500. I have the Mass. title from the previous owner. Wasn't required in RI due to age. Thanks. Mike (401) 464 one nine one three. Local pick up only.

History
Car was purchased in February 2015. Owner at the time showed receipts that the car was purchased on ebay in 2012 from couple in Florida. When car had been sitting for about 2 years and not driven. The owner said that the interior did get wet after the car was in a heavy rainstorm with the top down, but it was then put up. After this, the owner said that he noticed the seats drying out and cracking heavily. After this, it was not used much. I purchased the car and towed it to my garage to begin restoration.
Exterior:
Scale 1-10, I'd give it a 7. The car was painted a few years back and when it's clean and waxed, it looks nice. Up close, most noticeably on the rear bumper, a bit of orange peel where they went a little light on the paint. Again, from 12 feet away it looks perfectly fine. No dents. A few scratches here and there and some blemishes on the front bumper, one that is covered by a sticker put on by the previous owner. The front headlights need a solid de-oxidation to look new again. I started this process but did not finish. Exterior was compounded and needs another round of buffing to finish hood and trunk. New emblems replaced all around. 16" wheels and tires mounted in August 2015 and are from an early model e46 coupe. Tires have nice tread on them. Glass is all intact on the car. Top is in very good condition on the outside, but showing a little wear on the inside. The roadster boot cover is available for the car as well if interested.
Interior:
Upon purchase of the car, the seats were terribly ripped up and cracked. These were replaced with OEM tan heated seats that have no rips or tears. Driver's heated seat works great, but passenger seat needs a new switch. Carpet was removed from the car as it was heavily soiled. I do have an OEM tan replacement available for the car if interested. Floor pans are exposed and look clean. I have 2 floor mats in the car now from a 740i that fit great. Door panels were removed and cleaned. All dash and trim pieces were cleaned as well. Dashboard in good shape. Previous owner mounted a cell phone mount on dash that I have not tried yet to remove. It's on with an adhesive. All gauges in the car work. Heat works, but only on high (final stage unit needs replacement). A/C may work, but was never tested or tried. Windows operate fine, but are slow and the tracks could use some grease. They sometimes need a little help going down. There is currently no radio in the car and the amp is missing in the trunk. All the wiring for this is intact. I did install a factory radio adapter for the radio so a new one would be easy to install. Speaker grills were painted as they were discolored and faded. An OEM headlight switch was replaced as this was not working correctly (common issue with these). Works great now. Fog light switch is missing. Horn works, blinkers good, and wipers are new. Glovebox handle was fixed.
Engine/Mechanical:
Car was not running when purchased in Feb 2015. Since then, I have replaced the oil, filters, entire cooling system (thermostat, water pump, radiator), fuel pump, camshaft position sensor, and battery. Car runs and drives very well now. Transmission is tight and the clutch grabs low. No slippage in any gears. Car does have a very slow oil leak that is either valve cover gasket or pan gasket. It was leaking coolant but this appears to have stopped following the cooling system overhaul. Power steering is good. Brakes are in need of replacement, but they work ok. Engine sounds good and has occasionally pulley squeal but haven't heard this in a while. Exhaust is solid with no suspected leaks. Suspension on the car is very tight. Bushings all seem good. I have not looked at the tensioners on the timing chain yet, but no classic M44 rattle or anything coming from front of the engine. I don't have any service information for the car aside from what I did to it.
Summary:
I've driven the car for hours at a time and it's been fine. In traffic, the temp gauge did creep up a little but maintained ok. I think if I was going to keep the car, I'd put a little cooler thermostat in to keep it running just slightly under the middle line on the gauge. It runs on the middle now. Car doesn't pull left or right and drives straight. Shifts well and is a blast to drive. I don't have Carfax info on it, but I can say confidently it's a very solid car and with only 115k it's just barely broken in. A new carpet set and radio will complete the interior work and other mechanical stuff could be done along the way. I've put maybe about 500-700 miles on it since purchase in February. I am selling the car as I am looking to purchase another BMW. No trades please. Vehicle is priced at $**** or best reasonable and respectable offer. Car will be available for showing after 11/22.
