2000 BMW 5-Series V8 Description

So I bought this car 9 years ago, and remember the excitement as it was delivered in from Oregon. In a way it was a dream car, so perfect and beautifully modified and only 23k miles. The vehicle at the time was a one owner car owned by a true enthusiast that spent lots of time and money (over $20k and I have all receipts) upgrading every inch of the car. Below is a list of those updates but am sure I have missed some.

AC Schnitzer Springs
Bilstein Sport Shocks
Erethane Bushings
AC Schnitzer Front and Rear sway bar
Wiechers Front and rear strut tower braces
Exterior:
Factory rear spoiler
AC Schnitzer Mirrors
Dinan Emblems
Factory 18 inch style 32 wheels, chromed
Haman rear lip
Interior:
Aluminum Pedal Set
Schroth Rallye 4 point racing harness

Carbon Fibre shift knob
Motor/driveline:
V.A.C. Motor sports Lightweight Flywheel
M5 Performance Clutch designed to be used with lightweight flywheel (16lbs versus 38 stock)

Dinan Cold Air Intake
Dinan MAF
Dinan Air Flow Meter
UUC Short Shift Kit
Bavarian Motorworks HP ignition system
Brakes:
Stainless brake lines
Brembo Rotors
Ceramicool pads (tons of pad left)
Since I have owned it I have added the below.
M5 front bumper
M5 limited slip differential
Fresh window tint about a year ago
Muffler delete
Current tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sport, 5-6 32nds of an inch of tread
Now to the sad part. After babying this car with regular service, Mobil 1 synthetic and only driving an average of 5800 miles per year I took it into the shop that I have used for 20 years to have an oil leak taken care of. Standard v8 service, valve covers and timing chain cover leaking. I took the opportunity to have the valve covers powder coated red while I was at it but that is when the issue started. I picked up the car and the next day I got an oil light and warning to turn the car off. I did, checked the oil and the level was fine. I towed it back to not take any chances. Several trips back to the shop were required as it would not act up every time. Got it back after they took all the covers off again to look for something they missed, which they found nothing and drove the car for about 700 miles. I kept thinking the car didn't seem right, the sound at idle and a bit more pops from the exhaust (some was normal after the muffler delete). At that point I found out the car was using oil. The car never needed topped off between changes but all of a sudden I am using a lot if oil, somewhere around 1 quart every 125 miles, smoking on start up and when you step on the gas. From there all the normal things were checked that plague e39's such as CCV and no fix. Took it to a second mechanic who did a leak down and cylinder 1 was at 50% and cylinder 5 at 18%. I honestly felt like crying!
With only 76k miles I still wonder if they are missing something but they are suggesting a new motor. This is my 6th BMW, one of which I put over 200k on and they have all been awesome. I love this car and I don't think I can handle the emotional stress of replacing the motor nor do I have time. I feel confident the wheels and other performance parts could be parted for a decent amount but would like to think the car would go to someone that would repair it and love it as much as I have.
Car runs and drives so feel free to come take a look and take bit for a spin. Let me know if you want more pictures.
