1979 Buick Electra Description

Please read this full story & view the photos. This beautiful vehicle is being offered at no reserve by the original owner.
This spectacular Buick has spent its entire life in the south, never exposed to salted roads, driven mostly by my wife since I drove a company vehicle, and it was garaged most of the time. I have kept the car as original as possible - all of the paint you see in the photos is the original factory paint except for the driver side front fender damaged in 1986, the hood which has some southern heat stress cracking, and a couple of other minor areas that have been corrected and touched up. Except for the fender all of the body sheet metal is factory original. Nearly all the interior is completely original. I have almost every maintenance or repair record for everything that has ever been done since the car was new, and upon request I can tell you anything you want to know about the car. This car is so original it even has the factory General GR78-15 spare tire in the trunk and the key code knockout plugs with the original GM keys. Even the catalytic converter is factory original. The original bill of sale, original Texas registration, all of the original Alabama registrations, and original owner's manual, GM documents, and keys are with the car and shown in the photos.
Since this car has never been resold and the odometer shows just 48,306 miles this vehicle could easily pass for and be sold as such, but I will ethically tell you it has turned over once and the true mileage is 148,306. This car is fully documented to prove that's the actual original mileage. It runs well, has a tight ride, and drives without a rattle.
This Buick was manufactured 6/19/1979, purchased in Texas in September, 1979, and almost immediately rust proofed (sere documented original receipt) by Ziebart to protect it from the corrosive SE Texas oil & chemical environment. Just a few months later we relocated to Alabama where it has been ever since. See the photos for complete documentation of this information. With minor exceptions the car is virtually rust free and easy to work on without frozen bolts everywhere. This car was one of the last Buicks built with the mighty Olds division 6.6 liter engine (403 cid was not offered after 1979) and Turbo 400 transmission, acclaimed by aficionados as the strongest passenger car transmission GM ever produced.
Factory options also included air conditioning, power steering, power bakes, cruise control, power windows, power driver seat, wire wheel covers, AM/FM stereo, full-size spare, and a few other items. Everything works except the clock, which is intermittent, and the AM portion of the radio, which we never listen to anyway. My guess (I'm an electrical engineer) is the selector switch has a contact issue and prevents the AM from functioning. Th A/C system has a relatively new (not rebuilt) Delco compressor, dryer, and filter/orifice, and still uses as-built R-12 refrigerant.
I just installed a brand new factory equivalent Walker exhaust system from the muffler on back, including the resonator, because infrequent driving resulted in condensation rust-through. It's a stainless muffler with lifetime warranty but non-transferable. It also has a brand new (not rebuilt) cruise control transducer, and a new heavy duty B&M "Traveller" torque converter (used in motor homes) with under 500 miles of use. The entire car has been well maintained and serviced throughout its lifetime. Please ask any questions you wish.
This gorgeous car has been driven just 10,000 miles in the past 15 years, and it needs a new owner that can either drive it more often or spend very little money and convert it to a fully documented true collector or show car.
