2002 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Coach Builder's Limited Description

Big, luxurious Cadillac convertibles have been a staple of the automobile industry from the earliest days, and with the exception of the Corvette-based XLR, Cadillac showrooms have been surprisingly bereft of drop-tops for the past few years. So if you yearn for a return to big, luxurious open-air cruisers, perhaps this 2002 Eldorado convertible will slake your thirst. Plus, this one has some cool history, as it was owned by the guys from "Carfellas" on the Discovery Channel. The last-generation Eldorado makes one fine-looking convertible, don't you think? It's almost as if GM stylists envisioned it this way when they designed the Eldorado, because the semi-formal roofline looks great. This one was built by Coach Builders Limited and thanks to OEM-levels of fit and finish, it remains in excellent condition throughout. At a glance you can tell it's led an easy life, and the only notable paint issues are near the convertible top itself, which should probably be expected. The two-tone black and silver metallic paint is both elegant and flashy, befitting a luxury car like this, and with a single gold pinstripe and a sleek aftermarket grille and gold hood ornament up front, it takes on a decidedly unique look. Someone clearly cared about this car, because it still looks great even 14 years later. The interior is stock Eldorado, which means comfortable tan leather chairs and every luxury feature you can imagine. Surprisingly, the convertible conversion doesn't take much of a bite out of the back seat area, so it's still a comfortable 4-seater. Aside from some light wear on the driver's lower seat cushion, the leather upholstery is in fantastic condition; even the door panels show few signs of use. Cadillac was justifiably proud of the "Zebrano" wood used in the Eldorado's interior, and the sleek dashboard was state-of-the-art in 2002 and still looks great today. Features include automatic climate control, power windows, locks, seats, and mirrors, cruise control, and a great-sounding AM/FM/CD stereo system that fills the convertible with sound at any speed. Even the steering wheel is beautifully finished with leather and wood accents. The top is made of OEM-looking materials and features a glass rear window and it all disappears under a custom hard-shell tonneau cover with the touch of a button. And despite the conversion, the trunk is still deep enough to be useful for road trips, something you'll definitely enjoy in this Eldo.Cadillac's powerful 4.6 liter Northstar V8 made a nice, round 275 horsepower in the Eldorado, and it provides wonderfully energetic performance even today. Nicely maintained, it starts with an authoritative V8 growl from the exhaust, yet remains eminently smooth at any speed. The engine bay remains in like-new condition with a bright silver engine cover and matching cam covers for the DOHC powerplant. A 4-speed automatic transmission always seems to find the right gear, even when you're hustling and it's backed by 4-wheel disc brakes that are reassuringly powerful. The all-independent suspension offers just the right balance of handling and luxury, with a bias towards luxury of course, and a glance underneath reveals that this car has definitely been out of the elements its entire life. Flashy chrome-plated alloy wheels with Cadillac emblems look great and carry recent 235/60/16 Vogue whitewall radials. This handsome Eldorado is an ideal personal cruiser in the grand tradition of Cadillac drop-tops. Unusual and nicely built and even a little bit famous, you're going to look forward to the next sunny day with this one in your garage. Call now!
