built on BMW’s 3-Series platform; the C63 on Mercedes's new

C-Class platform. All three competitors are all-new for 2015.

Major changes are under the hood. M3/M4 have dropped

their 4.0L V8 in favor of a Twin Turbo 3.0L inline six; the C63

Sedan has swapped its 6.3L V8 for a biturbo 4.0L V8 (the

Coupe version still offers the previous 6.3L V8). As such, all

three competitors follow the ATS-V’s lead toward smallerdisplacement

engines producing equivalent or more power

with greater fuel efficiency in a smaller, lighter package.
