1976 Cadillac DeVille Description
This ol' lady comes with an impressive amount of paperwork including original Bill of Sale, Retail Order and Title as well as service records dating back to 1979. Though I'm sure not everything is there, as you can see from the pictures it's gotta be pretty close! It even comes with original service-, body- and shop manuals and the dealerships 1976 Cadillac Interior- and Exterior Selection folders showing the many colors and textures you could buy for your Cadillac back then. Truly a piece of Cadillac history to go with this great car.
There's your setting...and now about the car: I bought it in the fall of 2014 to "love and enjoy" during my stay here the US. I'm military and have now been ordered back to Europe, so my Caddi-days are over for now. I've had a few things fixed on the car; minor mechanical stuff with the front suspension, had the drive shaft balanced, got new vinyl put on the roof, replaced the rear bumper fillers with used, original ones and gave it a good wash'n wax-down. Apart from this, along with a few newer engine parts (starter, plugs etc.) and newer tires, the car appears to be all original. The paint is very good looking and has the patina of a used but well kept 40 year old car. I'm sure it's a matching numbers car as well, since there's nothing in the vast service records to indicate otherwise and it's got pretty low mileage. The car was stored for about 7-8 years at one point, and the owner before me (who was an italian working in the US for a period of time) had it sitting in a garage/storage for prolonged periods as well, until he eventually decided to sell it after he had moved back to Italy.
The car runs, steers, brakes and drives absolutely fantastic; it's straight as a ruler and just incredibly comfortable, especially on the highway where it has NO problems keeping up with traffic. For a 500 cui 40 year old lady you simply can't but love it! For anyone who's ever driven a boat this size you'll recall the floatiness and torque-thrill of this type of 70's big-engine cars.
However, time has taken a few tolls on the Caddi; Air Condition not working due to leak;compressor is turning fine. Autopilot disengaged to allow for steady speed indication. Radio works after about 5-10 minutes warming up. Reverse lights don't work (works if you short-cut them). The dashboard has cracks in the left side as does the cover inside the driver's door (both can be seen in the pictures). The turn signal arm comes off easily if you pull it when you signal left or right (comes back on just as easy again). Apart from this these minor snacks the interior is amazingly well kept. It does NOT burn oil, but it does leak a little (drops) gear-oil after engine start when it's cold (weather). As soon as it's been running 1/2 a minute there's no leak. Also there's no leak when it's warm. I'm sure there're other little dings and things you can point your finger at - after all it's a 40 year old vehicle - but all in all it's got to be one of the best kept original, non-restored Caddies this age you'll find!
If interested give me a call or write/text me. The car is for sale other places as well so I claim the right to take it off ebay anytime, no matter the highest bid present. This is a cash only deal and you'll need to pick it up yourself; no shipping. The good thing is; you can drive it right home... I'd drive across the States without a worry on my mind! (maybe apart from the gas-prices).
Also; I don't need help selling, thanks to those who might want to offer such service.
Enjoy bidding!
On Mar-29-16 at 16:46:55 PDT, seller added the following information:Information added March 29th 2016:Beware this is the last year of the big-body and big-engine combination. It's also the first year (I believe) of the 40/60 split power front seat that still seats three people, making it a six-seater total, of course with seat belts for all. Furthermore it has power windows, power steering, power antenna and central locking system which can be controlled from the front seat. All of which works! Last but not least you should notice that the steering wheel is completely intact without the usual cracks in the outer rim; this you won't see that often.
