The 1947 Cadillac is considered the last of the older pre-war design. Production ceased in 1942 and resumed after the war. The 1947 model is very close in all regards to the 1942 model year Cadillacs, cosmetically and mechanically. Interestingly, the 346 cubic inch Flathead V8 & Hydra-Matic automatic transmissions used in these Cadillacs were also put to use in the war effort in M-5 battle tanks.
The interior is beautifully done, retaining correct components such as the brightwork, controls, and steering wheel. The 3-speed column-shift manual transmission was standard for the '47 model year, however this example is optioned with the "Hydra-matic" automatic transmission.
The upholstery is in beautiful condition front to back. We have receipts for the custom-installed air conditioning system, very well done and over 200 hours invested in the design and execution.
Under the hood is the factory L-head or "Flathead" 326 cubic inch V8 engine. This powerplant is factory rated at 150 horsepower and is mechanically sound in this Cadillac. You'll note the aftermarket air conditioning system and heavy-duty air cleaner.
The original trim identification plate is also intact and legible. The Camden Green color is correct for this '47 Series 6269 Fleetwood body Cadillac.
The exterior has been restored and maintained in the original color to this car, Camden Green. The body panels are straight. The hood, trunk, and doors fit correctly. All of the chromework is intact and shows well throughout this car.
