Hello,
This is a 1947 Cadillac series 61, 2 door coupe fastback.
I purchased this car 12 years ago in Sacramento CA. The intent was to do a complete restoration, but keep it factory as much as possible with the exception of paint. however after a few years, my daughters were born and the car has been sitting since. I now know I am not going to get around to finishing this car anytime over the next decade so figured I would try and sell it.
I will try to give a bit of history here, and if you wish to know more, please feel free to email me and or call me.
When I purchased the Cadillac it was running. The engine and drive trainis still in the car but has not been turned on in over 5 years, I believe it will turn on but think it would be best for you to assume that it will need some work done to it. I decided to have the body work 100% done first, so I drove it over to American Stripping in Sacramento and had them completely soda blast the entire car inside and out. I then proceeded to have the entire body work done to the car professionally. I was blocked 3-4 times so there would be no waves in the body. I had it painted a bmw medium metallic grey on the top, and a bmw silver on the bottom half, I can get you the color codes if needed. The paint has never seen the sun, or beenwet, it isstillin the condition from when it returned from the paintshop. It is about as perfect as can get. I then sent out all of the chrome to have it redone by a chrome shop professionally. Having the grill chromed alone cost me $2,000, and I had most of all the pieces chromed, many still sitting wrapped up never opening since they came home from the chrome shop. There are many other things I have had done through the years such as getting the interior window trims and dashboard wood grained. To be honest there is too much to list here. Key thing I would like you to know is very little was done to the interior. The seats and door panels are in very bad shape, they would only serve as a template for an upholster, they need to be 100% redone. Also after the soda blasting was done, I found that the drivers/passanger floorboards had some rust holes, so I purchased new floorboard pieces to have them welded in, however never got around to having it done. I also have a new trunk floor board to weld in, all of them are the original stamping, but need to be welded in.
I have many, many extra parts such as BRAND NEW windows all the way around, rubbers, engine parts, fulton visor, trim pieces, moldin, and even an extra manualtransmission that is from a 47 Cadillacin case I wanted to change it over to stick. Overall I would say I have safely over 90% of everything, it may be closer to 100% but it is safer for me to say 90% and let you know there may be a piece here or there (small ones) that you may need to buy. All would need to be installed. I have bought many things for it over the years, so some of the stuff is brand new, some of it is NOS.
I have easily over $20,000 invested into this car already :- ( I know I am losing a lot by selling it at this point, and I am bummed about it, however my loss is your gain. If I had time to part it out I am sure I could get more, but I don't have the time, and it just kills me to think about parting it out. Because of this please do me the favor and do not contact me about trades, or offering me less than what I am setting the minimum price to. I feel as though I have lost soo much already that I am listing it a the bottom dollar I am willing to let it go, otherwise its off to a storage facility for another number of years. The mileage I am not sure is accurate so did not put a real number there. I tried to take a picture of key things, but if you need a picture of something specific, let me know. As far as I am aware, the body, engine, frame etc.. are all original. I do not believe there is anything aftermarket on the car. If you purchase the car, we would place everything we have inside of the car.
Car is located in Loomis CA (near Sacramento CA).It has been registered in California for most of its time, however I moved toColorado for 2 years for work so ithas also been registered there. Current Title (CO)is in hand, however car is at my cousins house. If you wish to talk to me about it we can chat over the phone, email, whatever is best for you. If you would like to see it in person, and I recommended it, let me know and I will get you in contact with my cousin so you can schedule a time to see it. Please be considerate on my and his time, only really talk to us if you have the money and very serious on buying it.
I am also selling it locally, and reserve the right to end the auction early without notice. I am really sad to see it go, so hoping it goes to someone that will spend the time restoring it.
On Dec-21-16 at 08:31:24 PST, seller added the following information:Updated 12/21 - Apologies but 1 thing I forgot to add that I have already cut the trunk floor out, in preparation to weld in the new trunk floor I have. I never had the new truck floor welded in though, so I wanted to make sure everyone was aware. I have also been asked to provide a few pictures of the engine so I have added those.Keep in mind that the hood and front fenders are only temporarily in place with a few boltsand the hoodis just restingin place soall of this would need to be secured better whentopickup.
