1987 Cadillac Allante CONVERTIBLE Description

1987 Cadillac Allante'

1 of 3363 BUILT FOR 1987!!

LOW MILES - ONLY 78K!!

As the 70's came to a close, Cadillac was losing the race to Mercedes and Jaguar in the personal luxury convertible market. In the early 80's Cadillac brought back the convertible in the Eldorado platform, but that still did not compete with Jag and Benz. So Cadillac took their task to an Italian builder by the name of Pininfarina. They wanted a two seater, v8 roadster with unique styling but wanted the styling to encompass all Cadillac stood for in design. The Allante was introduced in 1986. The most unusual way these bodies were shipped to Detroit was by specially equipped Boeing 747s. They could carry 56 bodies at a time and total production of the Allante from 1986-1993 were only 21000 for all 8 years. If you're a fan of GM or Cadillac an Allante' is a good vehicle to add to your collection because of its history, heritage and low production numbers.

When we purchased the vehicle, we bought two from a collector who had recently passed. This 87 Caddy and an 88 Jag featured in another eBay auction. The battery was stone dead, we put a battery in the vehicle and the car started and ran. Two days later the fuel pump had failed. At that point the tank was dropped, the old fuel was removed and a new pump was installed. I did remove the muffler and tailpipe as it was no good. We are selling this vehicle as a running, stopping and transmission engaging project. It will need a full service. The widow of the collector had said her late husband would try and find low mileage cars and put them away. Always serviced the vehicles, drove them for a bit, put tires on them and put them away. The convertible tops I am not familiar with but reading online it seems they were problematic. I didn't even try the top. I did notice the rear is not latched as you can see in the pics but the condition of the top is excellent.

The body is in very good condition and the paint shines very nice with very few blemishes or dings. I pointed out in the video a few minor defects. All the glass is good. Please view the pictures and let me know of any questions.

The interior is in excellent condition as you can see in the pictures. No rips or tears or fades.

The engine is the 4.1 Litre V8. The vehicle starts, runs and drives and stops. You will need to service the vehicle and the car should be driven. The body, floors and frame are solid with no rust or rot. I would recommend at least a new muffler and tailpipe for the vehicle sounds like an Indy 500 car.

Please call me with any questions of if you want to come and see the vehicle. 856-905-5593
