1999 Chevrolet Suburban LT Description

Offered for sale is an exceptionally clean, 57k original mile 1999 Chevrolet 1500 Suburban LT finished in Light Pewter Metallic over a grey leather interior. Originally a demo car, Pete Johnston Chevrolet of Paso Robles, CA sold the Suburban to a Santa Barbara based doctor in 2000 with 12k miles on it. Since that time, the Suburban has been used sparingly, primarily to transport cases of wine from the doctor’s wine property in San Simeon to his home in Santa Barbara, where it was in good company alongside the doctor’s impressive 20+ car collection.

We’ve been commissioned to slowly sell off parts of that collection, and while we specialize in European sports and special interest cars, I can say that this Suburban is a perfect indicator of how well the good doctor took care of his cars.

The Pewter Metallic paint is in fantastic shape, marred only by a handful of minor imperfections, none of which are significant enough to appear in any of the photos. The chrome bumpers are in good condition, the plastic trim shows wear typical to a well-cared-for 17-year-old truck, all of the glass is in excellent shape and the original wheels are wrapped in brand new tires.

The car’s interior is equally as clean, the grey leather seats, carpets and interior panels showing only wear customary of a 57k mile example. Because the SUV was used primarily to transport goods rather than people, the rear seats were hardly ever used, spending much of their life folded down. As such, a depression and wear to the leather in the second row center seat back is evident, but they’re otherwise in virtually untouched condition. Lastly, the dash and headliner are both in excellent original shape.

Always kept serviced, the Suburban is in excellent mechanical shape. Upon receiving it, we had our mechanic go through everything ensure that it was in good running condition, performing necessary fluid changes, replacing the battery, replacing the serpentine belt, replacing the brake pads. The 5.7L V8 starts effortlessly, idles cleanly and pulls strong and smooth through each of the gears. Ride quality is excellent and it drives and brakes straight and true. The SUV has never been in an accident and comes with an entirely clean CARFAX report, as well as its original owner’s manuals.

This era of Chevy’s (particularly Suburbans) was extremely well engineered and well loved, and consequently finding clean, low mileage examples is incredibly difficult. This SUV is hardly broken in and will inevitably provide its next owner with multiple decades of trusty service.
