Up forAuction is a Custom-Built 2004 Chevy S-10
It's a Crew-Cab / Long-Bed4 X 4
With only 8,210 Authentic, Original Miles
It'sbeing offered at $14,995.00 WITH NO RESERVE
2004 was the last production year for the S-10, and the only way it was offered was as a 4 X 4 crew cab with an ultra-short bed. Although it had plenty of interior room, the hauling capacity left a lot to be desired.
I'm the truck's second owner and have the original window sticker with a List Price of $25,140.00.
The frame on this S-10 pickup truck has beenlengthened 33.4 inches and the factory 58.4 inch ultra-short bed has been replaced with the 91.8 inch, long bed version, (33.4 inches longer) givingthe trucksome great lines, and making it look almost like a full sized crew-cab Silverado.
The truck's overall length has been increased from 205.3 inches to 238.7 inches, (also 33.4 inches longer.)
Just for comparison, a full sized Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup is 256.2 inches long.
The finished product is nothing short of spectacular!
My name is Rick Dobbertinand I build cars for a living. You can search for some of myearlier projects on the Internet, just by typing in my name or searching for Dobbertin Performance. Two of my former projects were awarded Hot Rod Magazine's "Car of the Year", back in 1982 and 1986. Hopefully, this will lend some credibility to the quality of this S-10 project.
The same kind of care and attention to detail went into the building of this S-10.
As I stated above, the truck has 8,210 authentic, original miles on it. This is an honest, untouched odometer reading – unlike many of the listings I see on this auction site every day with "1" mile on the odometer – this 8,210 miles is for real.
Nothing on this truck has more than 8,210 miles on it – except the long bed and the tonneau cover from an S-10 in Florida, which were pristine, rust-free and had about 25,000 miles on them.
The new parts include:
A steel tear-drop cowl induction hood
Two rear bumper caps
A complete, high-end, professionally applied paint job – front to back.
With the addition of the new, longer bed, the tonneau cover and cowl hood, the only way to finish the truck properly was to repaint the entire vehicle - so it was scuffed, detailed and repainted.
The base color is duPont's ChromaPremier in Chevy's Victory Red. The clear coat is duPont's #72200S ChromaPremier top coat.
In fact, the paint is so smooth, (and superior to a factory paint job) that the truck reflects just about everything that's around it – as evidenced by the photos.
The frame and many related underside componentswere thenpainted with POR-15 high-gloss chassis paint
A tailgate bed liner section is included, but not installed in the photos
A 500# capacity electronic actuator for the tonneau cover
Four American Racing 16” X 7” Maverick wheels
Four Goodyear 235 / 70R16 Tripletread tires
Twenty 'deep-thread' Cragar lug nuts
Heavy-duty four-link rear suspension bars, with nylon-inserted 5/8” rod ends - rated at 19,960 pounds each
Two rear Firestone Ride-Rite air bags
A Ridetech on-board air compressor
A Ridetech dual control pressurecontroller
Four Monroeshock absorbers
Driveshaft modifications and acarrier bearing
A complete 'cat-back' exhaust system, with a Turbo muffler
The battery
An oil, oil filter and air filter change
A four-wheel alignment
Four form-fitting mud flaps to protect the paint and body. Recently added (and can be seen in one of the photos.)
Miscellaneous Information:
The truck’s engine, transmission, transfer case and both differentialsremain factory stock with 8,210 miles on them.
The truck has never been in any type of accident.
There are no dents, scrapes or flaws in the paint.
The body fit at the doors and hood are great.
The body-to-bed fit is great also.
The front grille 'Bowtie' has been painted to match the spokes on the wheels.
The underside of the truck is just about as clean as the top side. The frame, body, drivetrain, suspension, wheels and tires hardly appear as if they have ever hit the road.
The frame was lengthened with heavy-gauge channel, plus an additional 1/2” X 4” steelplate on both frame rails just to make sure there would be no fatigue later on. The steelplate was both welded and bolted to the existing frame rails - and spans well beyond the points where the frame extension was added.
All of the floor mats, as well as the carpeting underneath the mats are in pristine condition.
The headliner is also in pristine condition.
The radio is the high-end factory unit with a CD player and quad speakers.
The air conditioning runs super-cold just like it should.
The long bed from Florida that replaced the ultra-short bed was originally white. Portions of the bed under the bed liner are still white, as is the underside of the bed. I didn't undercoat it so it wouldn't look like I was covering any flaws or rust. Look at the photos and you can see that the bed is in like new condition.
I've had a few questions about mounting the actuator in the middle of the tonneau cover. I did this so all of the unsightly locking hardware could be removed from the tonneau cover. Actually, the only thing it hampers is hauling plywood, as most items that would be hauled in the truck are narrow enough to slide in past the actuator.
However, if you want to pick up some plywood, the actuator can be removed in a couple minutes by unplugging it and removing two pins.
The actuator's UP and DOWN switch is located in the center console.
Thedual air controller is also located in the center console.
The title is clear, in my name, and ready to be signed over.
I, Rick Dobbertin, did all of the work on the truck myself, except for the paint, which was professionally completed.
