1981 Chevrolet Corvette Description

1981 Corvette-Very Nice Unmolested Original Car

I'm relisting this car, it would seem no one appreciates what this car is. Pity. I'm going to cut it up should it not sell. Worth more parted out anyway. Should you want parts, inquire.

Outstanding condition, 99% original, two tone burgundy, cloth seats (rare?), the nicest set of factory alloy's I've seen in a long time-no curb rash whatsoever. Original paint under a hastily prepped re-spray- means no "expert" has stripped the body and ruined the lines or the gel coat. This carisclose to being "full option". Of course many power options were standard.

The odometer reads 97,000 miles-true, original spare never down, the "tits" are still on it, jack never out as well. All glass is nice, glass tops in very good condition. Starts and runs great, no hesitation, smoke. Transmission works well, brakes out from sitting.

The radio has never been out, or interior disassembled in any way. Exterior lenses are nice and crisp/colorful, tells me this car probably spent a lot of time indoors early on. Headlights non-op (hose off of reservoir can), windows non-op as well. I haven't bothered with these trivialities, as I was planning to go through the car 100% and give it everything it needs. I haven't done anything to the car since I've owned it but start it up and move it around every few months. It rests under cover on my trailer.

This car appears to have never been in an accident-save for the left rear quarter panel. The previousfemale owner had a tire mishap. That's when I got the car. A mechanic friend of mine who is familiar with the car called me to see if I may be interested, as she didn't want to put further funds into the car. I bought the car 5 1/2 years ago. I haven't been able to find the time to do her, hence we are here on ebay. The tire mishap did no damage other than what you see. I have a very nice used 1/4 panel to go with it. Exhaust: cat-back gone. I mention these things for honesty and my ebay rating, but as I state, the car needs to be "done". I must also mention the bumper covers are very nice and supple, fairly straight as well. The bad repaint actually helped this car.

The car is worn, but not worn out. If you know these cars, and have looked at them, you know many have been through many hands, un-tastefully modified, robbed of hidden parts, boogered up with anything that'll hold them together.

Any Corvette "of age" will need a substantial amount of money and time put in it to make it right and safe. Even the "nicer" ones, i.e. "beware fresh paint you can smell"! If you disagree with me, you either haven't looked at or owned any cars from this era, so why not start a relatively "easy" restoration with a good, solid, "all there" car? This really is a nice car and deserves to be "done". Total investment will be at break even or better I figure. Make that I "know". Plus, you have a great, original, safe car good for another 30 plus years of enjoyment. I've the "Owner's Manual and a dealer brochure as well.

I couldn't get all of the pictures I wanted uploaded, too big in memory size when I took them. I tried to do the best to show what the car is.

Title is clear and in my name. Contact me with any questions, leave a number and time to call for faster response, and don't forget to consider time zone, I am EST in Maryland.

I have a "twin" (paint) 1984 El Camino SS I may be willing to let go. Two owner family car. Also have a 1973 355 SB engine built to period LT-1 specs with lots of internal goodies, fresh on the stand. Of course, I am just mentioning these for exposure, not included with the 1981 listed. Also a 1980 L-82/TH350 engine/trans, complete fan to yoke, 53k (car was hit in rear), 1981 Pontiac Formula BW Super T-10, 40k w/ factory Hurst shifter (also hit in rear), almost new set of ARE "Baja" (eight hole design) 15x8 GM 5 on 4 3/4 pattern rims w/ custom ordered black-on-blackwall Uniroyal Tiger Paws, 225-70/15-200 miles. Also have mint set of 16x8 1990 eraC1500 SS rims, and lastly my 1995 C2500 LB ext. cab. No salt/winters-southern truck. Just thinning out my parts collection.

Thanks for looking, you'll look good in this car, and to all you current Corvette owners: "Save The Wave"!
