1969 Chevrolet Camaro Description
1969 CAMARO RS CONVERTIBLE
This a true color Dusk Blue and optioned 1969 RS Camaro Convertible. It is a very rare Camaro that has had a no expense spared frame off nut and boltrestoration. All original parts were replated or restored to original condition.
The Camaro was a original GM Executive Car that was ordered by him while he worked at the R&D Center in Michigan. Back then they could drive them for 6 months and at the end either had to turn them in and start driving another one of there choice,or purchase that car. This Camaro was being watched by a IBM Tech who was at the R&D Center everyday to oversee the computers. The GM Executive decided to turn this one in and got him a 1970 SS Chevelle Convertible to drive. When the day came the car was dropped off at Ed Rinke Chevrolet which was next door to the plant and that is where the IBM Tech purchased it and drove it until family life and kids came into play & at that time the Camaro was just not big enough for a family. The Camaro was then sold to someone that was not very friendly to it and sit up for nearly 10 years where it was sold to another person who had a very bad experience with a Restoration Shop. He got to the point where he just wanted to sell it and thats where I bought it.
The Camaro is a very early build and is loaded with very rare options. It has the original born with color combo of very rare Dusk Blue, Dark Blue Deluxe Interior with a White Power Top.The options are as follows: Power Top, Power Factory Disc Brakes, Power Factory Windows, Vigilite Fiber Optics (very rare on convertibles), Factory Fold Down Rear Seats, Power Steering, Factory Duel Exhaust, 3:31 Posi Traction, Tilt Wheel, Walnut Factory Steering Wheel, Console Gauges, Tach in Dash, AM/FM Multiplex Stereo which is very rare in Convertibles.
The restoration was very detailed, all the bolts, washers, nuts, window regulators, brackets and anything that could be replated was done, including window regulators. The steering column, rearend, master cylinder, carburator, door panels, (were sent off to Just Dashes), powertop motor was sent off to professional restorers that specialize at the specific fields mentioned above.
The Car was already stripped down and primed in primer by the previous Restorer and I decided to completly strip it again and decided to take the Camaro to The Installation Center in Georgia to receive the panel replacements that they recommended to bring the Camaro back to the way it was back in 1969. They duplicated the factory assemble and welds to assure proper fit. The Camaro was then brought back and thats where it received the flawless Dusk Blue Paint.
The Motor is not the original short block but it is a date correct Camaro HB 350/300HP short block with the original exhaust manifolds, intake, distributor, carburator, power steering pump, oil pan, voltage regulator, alternator. The transmission is original to the Camaro. The original Master Cylinder and Booster was sent off to rebuild and replate. The rearend was sent off to rebuild. The exhaust is the factory duel exhaust that is aluminized.
All Chrome and Stainless was either replated or polished. The factory AM/FM Multiplex Stereo was sent off to get serviced. The Fiber Optics has NOS Fiber Cables that took nearly 3 years to locate.
All new weatherstipping using the new Latex version which is more like the originals. Iam selling this Camaro for way less than is invested because the car needs to be completed, which is the following: Top needs to be put on, which I have it is white and comes with the glass rear window, glass needs to be adjusted to top frame, I have the seats out to make it easier adjust the top frame and glass, all the wiring is complete and new, have to put the console in, front bumper is off. All parts, bolts, brackets are there to finish it up.
This is a rare chance to get a very high end project for a fraction of the cost to do a restoration of this quality.
I encourage you to compare this Camaro with any of the other ones and the quality of which this was done. I have over 70k invested in it.
The question I get asked is why am I not going to finish it since its so close. For anyone who has severe back problems you will understand, and I am to picky to let someone else do the work.
Please ask any questions. I would welcome inspectors. I am trying to describe the Camaro as accurately as possible. This Camaro is flawless and the price will reflect it, please do not askwhat the reserve is.
I have the right to cancel the ad at anytime.
I will deliver the Camaro anywhere in the United States for a fee.
