You are bidding on exceptionally niceproject 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible that has the majority of the expensive and difficult restoration work completed! This car is 98-99% complete,andlikely50-60%restoredand includesmany new parts! The FRAME OFF restoration was started on this car in recent years, however, the previous owner past away prior to the completion of the restoration. All of the work completed thus far is quality work, and NOTamateurish restoration work. Iwould estimatethat over $35K was spent thus-far on restoration work, parts, along with engine/carb/generator rebuilds to get the car to this point.
Based off the dual-fourcarb set up and the heavier weights on the side, it appears that this car was originally a 283/270HP car.Additionally, allindications are that it was also an original four-speed car!Theoriginal color appears to have beenblack on this car based on paint found in several areas, along with a well-preserved area of the upper trunk that is marked "BK" or "BLK" which has been left untouchedand it appears to have been a black car originally. It appears that the original interior was red, so this would clearly be a gorgeous color combination whenfinished!
The frame has been completely restored, painted, and the body hasbeen set back downon the restored frame. The bodywas completely stripped to raw fiberglass top and bottom. It's completelyrestored, block sanded, a guide coat has been applied, and is trulya few days toa week from being ready for paint. It's extremely straight, and smooth and the fitment of the fenders, hood, convertible top hatch, quarter to doors, quarter to fender gaps, etc are allexcellent. While there is some body shop dust on the underside, a light clean up would return everything to frame off condition again. I can put the car on my lift if needed to get more pictures of the underside, but trust me, it's NICE!!! Front and rear suspension have alsobeen restored/rebuilt as well!
The great majority of originalbrightwork/chrome/trim is included with the purchase. Thereare also a number of new pieces of chrome and trim included (new cove moldings, several front and rear bumper sections, etc.) The original windshield frame, along with a replacement windshield, and original hubcaps are also included. There is a new trunk mat, a new gas tank/sending unit, and five whitewall tires, and many other partsincluded with the purchase.
The interior appears mostly complete as pictured. The extremely hard to findtach, clock, speedo, and othergauges are all included. The convertible top frame isexceptionally nice with noissues, or damage evident. Thepricey and hard to find correct radio and speakerassy are both included. The seat covers have been replaced with new material previously but it's not the correct pattern for this year of Corvette, so these could be easily sold.
The engine compartment includes themajority of originalcomponents.Theinner fenders and cowl/firewallhave been stripped tobare fiberglass, so you can see how nice this area is. The starter, radiator and distributor,intake/carbs, air cleaner, and otherhard to find engine components are all included. Thegenerator has been rebuilt, as have the carbs. The engine has been rebuilt andis a 991casting number block. The heads are correct 1957 pieces. The transmission is a T10 cast iron case with aluminum tail housing. The mileage shows around 49K, however the title is marked as non-actual, as most cars in Ohio are of this age. The ORIGINAL, not reproduction VIN tag is included. An interesting note on this car is that it's an exceptionally late 1957,in fact,it's one of the last 901957 Corvettesbuilt!!!
I have a file of pictures I can send out that include several other views. Contact me and I can send these to you if you'd like to see additional pictures.
Try to go find another 1957Vette for this price with the great majority of hard work completed. Wrap up/finish this car and youcould be init forless than any other high quality restored '57 Corvettes in the country! If I had the time to finish I would do so, but I don't at this time as I have another complete frame off on a 1965 I am doing at this time. This is an excellent opportunity for a collectible Corvette that you can finish up the restorationas time and money allows! Properly finished, this car would easily sell in the current market between $90-$100K, leaving plenty of room on the table for someone else to complete it.
If you are looking for aqualityC1 Corvette project car, here's an excellent opportunity for a collectible car that you canfinish up. The verbiage, and the pictures are EXTREMELY representative of this car. If you know your Corvettes, you know how hard it is to find a first generation Corvette project car these days.Quality, complete project cars just aren't out there to be found like they used to be!
