1962 Chevrolet Corvette Description

1962 was the transition year from the C-2 to the Stingray body. 1961 and 1962 sported the Stingray body aft of the doors. This pristine low- mileage example has been pampered and cared for throughout it's 54 years. The much sought after "triple black" (body, top, interior) is in excellent condition. Within the last 2500 miles she was treated to a complete body restoration, new interior finishes, new soft top, new tires, brakes, clutch and engine refreshing. Many new or re-chromed trim parts were added. The sale includes a pristine removable hardtop.
The 340 HP solid lifter HP cam engine sports two four barrel carbs (original intake comes with the sale) and all the Corvette engine compartment details. When refreshing the engine (new mains, rods, cam bearings etc), it was noted the block was a correct casting GM factory replacement. We presume the original lost it's lunch sometime in the past!. Hardened valve seats and bronze guides were included in the triple angle valve job. Original dual point distributor was reconditioned. The matching Borg Warner 4-speed was gone through at the same time as was the 3:70 poi rear and axles. Anything that was even slightly suspect was replaced.
The car spent much of it's life in the south and the previous owner loved summertime creature comforts so a great deal of time and money was spent to professionally install a hidden AC system. Moving the generator to the right side of the engine (and upgrading to an alternator), the AC compressor was installed on the vacated generator mount. A careful job to hide hoses, ducting and outlets was successful. I have never had anyone notice the installation until the hood is opened! Keeps you cool even with the soft top. Additionally, electric door locks were artfully installed as well as a five disc changer mounted in the trunk. This unit is a true cruiser with plenty of gas pedal guts and tire smokin' torque. If you are a preservationist, all the modern upgrades can be changed out with little effort.
Plenty of pics to see. so check the condition. The underside is as pretty as the top (minus the cobwebs!) Getting up in age and hate to see this beauty not out cruising every weekend. Time to let another 'Vette lover enjoy what I've experienced over the last 15 years.
