1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396
1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Description
Genuine 138 car, near the end of a body-off full restoration. Original interior is in great shape but some pieces can use cleaning/reconditioning. No expense has been spared on this job, the best shop in town has been working on it for the last year and a half. Car is extremely solid, but I'm already about $23500 into it and have had a recent life change that means I can't put into it what I was before. My loss, your gain. I can provide a full receipt from the shop detailing all the work with proof of the investment in it already. Some key info:
Have title in hand, with matching VIN
Original seats, console, dashboard, SS steering wheel all in good shape. Car was put into a back yard since the 70's, ran once in the 90's, and then I bought it.
So far, we have replaced the whole front clip, pass quarter panel, rear parcel deck, and the original sheet metal from the original quarter panel was used to replace some holes in the trunk, no new sheet metal used on the floors/trunk.
The body frame was removed and reconditioned and painted with very durable paint (can't remember the name) and the underside of the car has been sprayed with a durable coat of rhino-lining like material (will never rust again).
This is an automatic SS (396), I have the original block, heads, intake, carb, crankshaft, flywheel, original TH400 and a TH350, both included with the car (condition unknown). Engine needs total rebuild. I have the Pistons with rods and other parts for the engine but only the rods and the head parts can be reused. This is also a power steering and AC car, I have both but both will need replacement/rebuild. Passengers seat has a tear on the bottom, don't know if it needs to be reupholstered or if it can be fixed.
This is a 12 bolt posi car as well. Included are some energy suspension poly bushings for the front end (that was next on my list but haven't gotten to it) all the body mounts are brand new as well.
This car is poised to be a highly valuable vehicle when complete. We think it needs about $10k more into it. At this price, if it is done right, this car can easily go for $40k+. It's also a great starting point if you want to do a restomod. All the hard, boring work is done. I just can't afford it now.
