1939 Chevrolet Stylemaster Description

Ever get tired of doing what everyone else is doing? How about a rod that's not only incredibly stylish, but also practical? This 1939 Chevrolet Stylemaster 2-door sedan delivers on all counts, with a great look, lots of room inside, and a nicely crafted chassis that rides and handles like a modern machine.Fairly extensively modified, this Chevy's all steel body takes on an entirely new look. The bodywork has been treated to a host of traditional hot-rodding tweaks, including a chopped top, shaved trim, and Frenched headlights that give the '39's front end an entirely new look, especially since they used to be in separate pods up top! Fit and finish are quite good, with decent gaps and a sizzling red paint job that looks great going down the road and at local cruise nights. Out back you get more Frenched details, as both the taillights and the license plate frame have been recessed into the bodywork. Breaking up all that bright red paint is a simple pinstripe that follows the curve of the belt molding, as if it were simulating a piece of original trim. Peep mirrors have been neatly integrated into the design, and a Vee'd windshield adds to the sleek overall look. The original '39 grille is one of the best designs of the period, so it was left alone, along with the vents on the side of the hood, which look great and are fully functional. With room for five, this is a rod built to cruise cross-country at a moment's notice. Beautifully upholstered bucket seats use beautiful tan ultraleather to create a unique, upscale look, and the rear bench was upholstered to match. Custom door panels are simple and elegant, adding a slash of bright red to tie things together, and they use the original window frames, which give it a very polished look. The original dash now carries a billet insert which houses a full array of modern VDO gauges and the A/C vents, which are often tacked-on as an afterthought in lesser rods, are neatly built into the ends of the dashboard. A tilt column has been painted to match the bodywork and offers a beautiful wood-rimmed steering wheel that's sporty and elegant at the same time. In back, there's a cavernous trunk that is finished with simple tan carpet and matching side panels, making it ready to hit the road or the local shows.Reliable and powerful, the nicely detailed 350 under the hood delivers great performance on the open road. With only 800 miles on the V8 crate motor, it's practically brand new and thanks to a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor, it moves the Chevy with ease. That's an Oldsmobile air cleaner from the 1950s, which is a very trick look, and chrome valve covers and a bunch of bright parts make this engine bay look great. The A/C system is brand new and all the usual power accessories, from power steering and disc brakes to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, are all part of the package. The front suspension is a typical Mustang II independent setup with a 10-bolt rear hanging on leaf springs out back. Polished Torque Thrust wheels fit right inside the fat fenders and wear staggered 165R15 front and 235/75/15 radial tires for the perfect stance. If you need more than two seats and enjoy your creature comforts, this 1939 Chevy is ready.
