1938 Chevrolet Business Coupe Description

Look through our inventory and you'll see a lot of late-30s Fords, but oddly, not many Chevrolets. The big two have been duking it out since the mid-20s, and if your tastes run to the pre-war era, you owe it to yourself to take a good look at this gorgeous 1938 Chevrolet Business coupe. Tastefully built with a great-running 350 and a lot of luxury and convenience items, this is the perfect rod for the guy who likes to drive. The subtle charcoal gray paint is pretty close to what this car might have been wearing as it rolled off the assembly line in 1938, and on the curvaceous coupe's body it looks amazing, bringing out the details and giving it an appropriate look. The body is 100% OEM steel that hasn't been chopped or modified in any way. And why would you? The business coupe is already one of the most handsome cars of the era, with tidy proportions, that wind-swept grille, and a timeless profile. Bodywork is quite good, with a lot of extra care used on the final finish, although it's a few years old now and showing some signs of use. Nothing big, mind you, but a few details that prove that this car was built to drive. Note that the original trim wasn't shaved or deleted, but polished up and reinstalled, adding interest without making the car look too plain, and the red beltline molding is a great touch. And yes, those cool rectangular taillights are factory-issue, as are the cool ribbed bumpers and jet-age hood ornament. You couldn't ask for a better place to spend some time than the gorgeous gray and burgundy interior. Borrowed from a late model, the highly adjustable buckets have been reshaped and modified to erase their previous identity and make them look right at home in the vintage Chevy. There's also ice cold A/C, power windows, a tilt steering column, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo with speakers scattered throughout the passenger compartment. The original dash uses TPI Tech gauges set into a billet panel that makes them look kind of old fashioned, and things like the A/C vents and controls are nicely integrated into the dash. The massive trunk has been finished with matching carpets and custom side panels, so if you're going cross-country, this is definitely the car to take.Cruising is easy thanks to the 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood that moves the slick coupe with authority that the original inline-six could never manage. With an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and aluminum intake manifold, along with an HEI ignition system and a big aluminum radiator, it's a reliable powerplant that's also a lot of fun on the open road. There's some chrome for dress-up, but it's obvious that this one is all about function over form, although it has been recently serviced and it's quite clean. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission feeds a 10-bolt rear, and the front suspension is a late-model independent setup with power steering and disc brakes. Classic 15-inch steelies painted burgundy to match the beltline wear standard hubcaps and trim rings along with wide whitewall radials that really fill the fat fenders.Fully sorted and ready to enjoy, this awesome Chevy coupe is a great show and go cruiser that'll make you smile every time you see it.
