This '81 El Caminolooks good, runs good and sounds nice and"throaty." It is quick andfun to drive! The engine was completely rebuilt and has only 1,075 miles on it. It has leather bucket seats with new carpeting, headliner and door panels. Also a coolautomatic floor shifter, vintage gauges, dual 3"exhaust tips, Pioneer stereo, and too many new parts to mention. Itis from Florida, so it is rust free. It has a straight frame. The front tires are nearly new. The rear tires have about 50% tread remaining.Itturns a lot of headsand getsmany positive comments,but it isnot a "trailer queen."
I purchased this El Camino late last year on eBay for $9,500from a Florida seller (he started at $12,500but needed cash). Ithen paid $1,050 to have it transportedto California.UnfortunatelyI didn'tthink about California'sstringent emissions requirements. My mechanic advised meit would cost thousands of dollars to equipit to pass theCalifornia smog test.So I haven't registered it; instead Iam flipping it.
