*First Year of the Impala Designation
*Top Option V-8 "Tri-Power, Super Turbo Thrust"
1958 marked several important changes for General Motors for it's 50th year of production and the Impala was born as the top-of-the-line Bel Aire. This first-year Impala featured unique body styling for one year only and was the launch platform for what became the ubiquitous quad-headlight design cue which still carries on today. There wereoptions for a coupe or convertible, and several powerful engine combinations to choose from - of which, the 348ci "W" with three, two barrel carburetors was the most powerful.
The interior was neatlyappointed with a new horizontal patterning on the seats, a clock set in the dash and, of course, the tissue dispenser underneath. Beyond the aesthetics, a new "X" frame chassis bolstered torsional rigidity by 30%. Power brakes and power steering and a new coil-spring suspension allowed the driver to feel more assured and tamed the rough edges of its lesser predecessor.
The car shown here is a beautifully restored example of a timeless classic. Just out of a 15+ year ownership by collector, the paint isn't flawless but shows very well for the street. Purchased from the previous owners - a husband and wife met at a car show - the car was driven sparingly with very low miles since restored (6,017).All the data listed for this car appears to match its current configuration including the Rio Red paint and Arctic White top. Originality was clearly a top priority by the restorer - from the engine, right down to the original radio and white-wall tires. This car has just been serviced by Classic Investments and is ready to be driven and shown.
