You are bidding on my 1968 427 Corvette depicted in the recent photographs attached to this listing. The car is a real “head turner” and a stunning example of a classic Corvette.
This 1968 Corvette 427 Coupe is a highly detailed and documented total "nut and bolt" frame-off restoration. This matching numbers drivetrain Corvette comes equipped with the original 427 / 390 hp engine, 4-barrel Quadra-Jet carburetor, Turbo-Hydramatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and posi-traction rear end. The external paint is LeMans Blue (976) metallic lacquer with Medium Blue Vinyl (414) interior trim, tinted windows and the correct stickers & markings…just as it left St. Louis in 1968.
The Bloomington Gold Award, combined with documentation and ownership history going backto its shipment from St. Louis toL. H. Chase & Sons Chevrolet in Middleborough, Massachusetts;makes this highly optioned Corvette a special candidate for any Corvette buyer. The frame-off restoration was meticulously documented and photographed, showing virtually every nut and bolt, every important serial or part number and receipts – all organized and catalogued in four (4) binders with great detail. If you're serious about documented authenticity, this is the Corvette for you.
This beautiful Corvette reflects the time, effort and considerable cost invested in its restoration. It comes with the original bill of sale, protect-o-plate, NCRS shipping date report, original owner’s manual and AM/FM radio instruction booklet (still in original plastic), wheel trim ring instruction sheet, 1968 Corvette color brochure and more, all in excellent condition.
During the four year frame-off restoration, the frame/chassis was cleaned, stripped and finished. The suspension, springs, shocks, brakes, steering components are all detailed with the correct paint, stickers and markings. I have provided many photos in the Slide Show of the engine, undercarriage and suspension components to document the exceptional condition of this vehicle.
I have owned 427 Corvettes for many years. This Corvette is a blast to drive and in my opinion performs better than new. I refuse to “thumb my nose” at automatic Corvettes ever again!
