1987 Chevrolet El Camino Choo-Choo SS Description

In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the factory would have. They utilized took the Monte Carlo SS front end and side skirts to create the El Camino SS. Now this sparkling example of a factory-backed custom build and its new crate V8 is available at a value price. There's pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. They were rare. Less than 5,000 were produced over a five-year period, and there were only 850 others made in 1986. But more than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's a GM-backed custom build. We all think utilizing the NASCAR-inspired aerodynamics of the Monte Carlo SS would be a no brainier on the similar El Camino, but instead Chevy sent production to be hand completed at Choo-Choo's facility before being sold through GM's dealers. The Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS package included the aerodynamic front, special designer series door handle inserts, and the ultra rare body side moldings with integrated exhaust. But even if you didn't know how special this vehicle was, you'd find it quite attractive. Its correct Silver Blue Metallic paint gives off the perfect mixture of slippery darkness and shiny flake when the sunlight hits it directly. It's complemented perfectly by the stripes on the cowl induction hood as well as the correct SS decals on the front and sides. Plus, the bed rails, rear bumper, and American Racing polished alloy wheels give this the kind of chrome you expect on an American classic. The interior is a stock premium El Camino with some further upgrades. For example, the optional bucket seats have had their blue cloth recently recovered. And now you also see a nice new treatment around the gearshift in the center console. This El Camino comes with great factory features such as power windows, power locks, and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo. There's the original full set of round gauges, including a large tach. But ahead of that, the driver will really appreciate the upgrade to the Lecarra three-spoke sports steering wheel. Under the hood you'll find a truly great driver's upgrade. Around 2,000 miles ago there was a 350 cubic-inch crate V8 installed. It looks nice with the shiny air cleaner and Chevy valve covers, and also the new motor makes this a strong runner. You get a nice rumble out of the dual exhaust (note that it actually exits the rear so it can take full advantage of the long pipes while retaining the rare side body kit.) An El Camino this cool was made to go cruising, and that's why you get comfortable features such as the 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and Firehawk Indy 500 tires at all four corners.Rare, interesting, and exceptionally well presented this custom El Camino SS is exactly what you're looking for when you want to standout, which is why we know it won't last long at this price.
