FOR SALE: 1999 Chevy Suburban K1500 4x4 210K miles w/ new engine installed at 199K
I bought this Suburban from our local mechanic who used it as his daily driver. He replaced it last year with a new suburban and put this one in his garage and was going to save it for his son who is 12, but decided to sell it. Our mechanic purchased the vehicle from one of his customers and made the following repairs/modifications with his estimate of the cost in parenthesis:
·New 383 GM crate engine ($5000) – installed at 199,000 miles
·New Helo wheels and tires ($2000)
·New radiator and electric fans ($1000)
·4.10 gears front and rear ($1000)
·New fuel pump and tank ($800)
·4 Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks ($500)
·New steering gear box ($500)
·Ball joints ($500)
·Fuel injectors ($500)
·New Detroit Locker in rear ($500)
·New hitch and receiver ($450)
·Drive shaft front CV ($400)
·Computer recalibration by Motorvation ($350)
·2” body lift ($300)
·Tire pressure sensor kit ($300)
·Other items that were installed that he couldn’t remember the cost: Walker Quiet Flow Exhaust, all new sensors, rear o2 sensors turned off (??) – catalytic converters are not needed, new battery, new alternator, new water pump, new idler and pitman arms, new wiper arms, led rear tail lights, front head light and marker light assembly, new blower motor and heater core, new caliper pads and rotors, all new fluids, ac lines front to rear, new motor mounts, transmission torque converter installed while engine was out, airbags for towing, cover included
Our mechanic bought it from one of his customers because they were having a problem with it. Our mechanic chased the problem, replacing the parts only to find out it was a$80 sensor. He also set it up for towing a truck he used for some sort of mud racing.
With any 17 year old vehicle there are little issues. There are a number of round dents from softballs, a long scratch along the driver side, the cruise control works but the dash light doesn’t, some of the dash lights on the radio are also out. There is a little rust under the driver side doors and the rear sheet metal on the passenger side rear between the wheel and bumper was removed because of rust. I never noticed it when I was looking at it until the owner mentioned it. He also placed “SS” and “Z71” stickers on the vehicle, but it doesn’t have either package. There is no spare tire.
We originally purchased the vehicle to tow a camper/trailer. We bought the truck and never bought the camper. We purchased it with 209K, it now has 210K. I used it to run around town and in bad weather drove it to work.
It starts and runs great. After sitting 2 weeks in the cold it started right up.
