2001 Chevrolet Camaro SS Description

2001 Camaro SS, rare factory suspension, flawless, two-owner, black
Never thought this day would come, but my father and I have decided to sell our 2001 Camaro SS, car number 1001, built on 08/23/2000 and special ordered from Thompson Chevrolet, Olds, Buick in Patterson, CA. We’re the second owners, we know the original owner (family friend) who special ordered it, and we only drove it 851 miles in the 11 years of ownership-- it lived under a cover in a climate-controlled garage.

It’s one of just 24 Onyx Black, 4L60E-equipped, T-top Camaro SS’ made in 2001 with the factory installed Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension System that according to a Motor Trend Magazine article, helps it pull .91g on a skidpad. Please see detailed information below for the full specs on the factory-ordered SLP suspension kit, but in short, it added a hollow 35mm front sway bar and revised endlinks, reinforced stabilizer body mount brackets, a larger 21mm rear sway bar, SLP recalibrated Bilstein shocks (re-valved by SLP to match the springs), Progressive rate front springs with 223 to 448 lb.-per inch rates, progressive rate rear springs with 97 to 136 lb.-per- inch rates, rear trailing arms with 1LE higher durometer bushings, 1LE panhard bar. The car sits approximately 1-inch lower than an F-body with the standard suspension.

The car looks like it just rolled off the assembly line; it’s incredibly clean inside, out, and underneath, and has never seen the rain while in our possession and has never been in an accident. The T-tops have NEVER been removed, it’s all stock (save for a UMI chromoly strut-tower brace and PIAA Hi/Low headlight bulbs) and unmolested, has exact factory replacement Goodyear tires to keep it in factory condition, has never been hot-rodded, seen the track or burnouts-- no dimples in these rear quarter rockers! The paint, underbody, lower rockers, fenders and all of the nooks and crannys are devoid of flaws, save for a few small things that my camera wouldn’t pick up-- the body and paint is in remarkable condition. The interior and engine bay are in equally new condition. It’s always received Amsoil oil in the motor and redline oil in the transmission. Car was purchased on 03/24/2005 with 31,476 miles and now has 32,307 miles.

Factory SLP ordered options include the aforementioned Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension System, chrome 10-spoke wheels and SLP stainless steel Dual-Dual exhaust, as well as all standard SS components. Factory options include Preferred Equipment Group with leather and power seats, power windows and mirrors, ASR (traction control), etc., T-top shades, Monsoon stereo with 12-disc changer, 4L60E transmission. We have all factory literature, including the RPO build sheet and both the factory and SLP-option window stickers, as well as all factory cards and manuals.

As mentioned, the car is impeccable throughout; the interior is absolutely mint without any blemishes and the seats are devoid of creases as well. The paint is nearly flawless, and the underbody is clean too. We intended to keep the car forever, but had a recent change of heart seeing as it’s rarely driven and should go to a good home. The car was always babied and maintained to the utmost degree.

SLP Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension system info:

Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension is designed with a dual purpose to cover the corner carvers who still desire a comfortable ride, as evidenced by the progressive rate springs front and rear. The 1LE is the legendary limited-production suspension package that was first developed for the Third Gen. F-bodies. This setup caters more to the road racer who wants to feel every pebble (note the spring rates as compared to the Bilstein package and the factory suspension) and who desires the adjustability afforded them by the Koni shocks. According to SLP, the company is the exclusive distributor of the 1LE package.
