1967 Chevrolet El Camino West Coast Rust Free Description

Today we have listed for sale one of the nicest 1967 El Caminos you will find anywhere. This is an always garaged car (truck?)or as some call them utethat is adult owned and nice weather only driven. It belongs toa friend of mine who has decided tobuild the 'next project'- this isn't a 'fire sale' or a ditching of an edgy car, they simply feel it's time to move on another vehicle and would love to see this Camino go to just the right home. I'm here to help them do that. This is also the first time on the market for this car on eBay, so it's definitely not something you've seen, and seen again!.I will do my best to describe it so that you feel you know it. It's hard to show the total story of thiscar in the words I use, but I have added as many pictures as possible -I tried to use pictures that covered the overall feel and look of the car- scroll all the way down to see well over 100 of 'em. These pictures were mostly all taken at Evergreen Air Museum - I usually take them in front of a Douglas C-47 Skytrain that was part of the Normandy invasion in 1944.You will also note the Spruce Goose, a Saturn rocket and other planes in the background of some of the pictures. Evergreen is gracious in letting us use their planes and facility as a backdrop for these pictures. If you're ever in the McMinnville are please stop and see them - they have not only the air museum but an aerospace museum and an indoor water park! I use lower resolution so that anyone in the world can download them with relative ease.If for some reason you can't see picsof the undercarraige, engine and interior please check the scroll feature to the right - we add a LOT of pictures and they may not all load on a mobile device. Just a heads up there - the pictures are present, I promise! Please be aware that this car is advertised and for sale locally, nationally and globally, and we do reserve the right to end this auction at any time if the vehicle sells before auction ends. Thisverycool, collectible, stylish and solidAmericanclassic muscle caris definitely for sale and definitely on the money price wise. If you are SERIOUS about thecar - please call my cell # 503.580.6225 if I don't answer the first time - try again later - if I am at work I may not be able to answer your call. Please be considerate of the time. This is an amazing ly honest, solid and well builtvehicle and overall is simply a greatUte - one you can drive, show off mess around withand show with pride - and all with a vehicle that you aren't going to see on every street corner. The second generation El Camino's are some of the nicest, best looking and well proportioned Camino's ever produced. The 1967 version is the most refined of it's generation, and the last before the total change of 1968. This truck started out as a Fremont built, California sold (and long time resident) 283 V8 Automatic powered El Camino that has traveled less than65,000 miles in it's life. It was rust free, solid and not in need of a huge amount of work, never wrecked and was what we wouldcall unmolested. My friend decided he wanted one and found this example that was fresh from California - purchased it and proceeded to build what you see here. He and many of his friends partnered together to build what may very well be one of the nicest '67 Caminos on the planet. I will go through the car from front to back so that you know exactly what it is. Thepickup started life as a Custom/Malibu model with a V8, 283 to be exact - it was NOT originally an SS, so we want to be perfectly clear here - we aren't representing it to be, it's clearly and completely an SS clone, but not built to fool or trick anyone, it's just what the vehicle owner wished to do. It was built the third week of December1966. The paint finish was ErmineWhite with a blue imitation leather bench seat. The custom model gives it the extra bright trim on the sides andrear, as well as trim on the upperdoors and lower rockers/wheel wells. Let's move on to what's been done more recently: The motor is a.30 over 454 block machined for an Eagle stroker crank - giving a total displacement currently of 489 Cubic Inches. The entire rotating assembly has been balanced. Eagle H beam rods with SpeedPro pistons bring compression ratio to 10:1 - runninggreat on Super pump gas. Camshaft is a Lunati roller unit with 612 lift, 242 duration intake and 252 duration exhaust. Smith Bros pushrods,Lunati dual valve springs and retainers, Doug Herbert roller lifters with Harlan Sharp roller rockersand a 1.700 ratio provide the breathing. The heads are 049 GM Oval Port design iron heads with large valves cut in, and are ported and polished. Intake is an Edelbrock Air Gap with a 750 Holley double pumper. Spark is handled by a HEI DIstributer with an MSD box. Hooker Comp headers handle the exhaust and they flow into 3 inch exhaust, through Flowmaster 40's and out 3" tailpipes tucked nicely under the rear of the car. Check out the cutouts that are ready for you to uncork for some drag strip, show or street shenanigans - who me? Yes you! This thing sounds, and is simply nasty - but is very streetable. Power is transmitted through an SFI flex plate with a Hughes 2700 rpm stall converter and mated to a Turbo 400 transmission that was built specifically for this motor. A driveline safety loop is in place to keep things contained if a u joint should ever part company. The rearend is a Ford 9 inch that is narrowed to fit the wider tires squarely in the wheelwells and a Detroit Locker with 3:23 gears spin the axles to the rear wheels. Cooling is handled by a Griffen aluminum radiator with an aluminum trans cooler in front of it. It's all wired for an electric fan but is currently running a manual flex fan. There are mounting tabs that are built onto the rad for mounting electric fans if one needed them. In Oregon we have some pretty warm weather - and the owner has had no issues with overheating, and as fussy as he is - would have added the fans if needed. Power front disc and rear drum brakes stop this bad boy Camino very well and are behind polished 16 inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in Zexius 50 Series tires with about 3000 miles on them - 245/50-ZR16's up front and 275/50-ZR16's out back. Power steering gives excellent response and easy steering for parking and such. All the suspension has been gone through and an upgraded sway bar added. The stance is spot on. This truck sits right, sounds right, drives, stops and steers right. It's a bitchin' ride from front to rear, and no expense was spared - if it needed it, it got it, and then some. Check out the details in the pics. The interior is mostly new except for the dash which houses the original gauges. The bench seat is luxuriously and professionally covered in leather (not leather-like material), and new headliner, new door panels and carpet reside in the non smoker occupied interior. Of course all weatherstripping has been replaced, and all glass is like new, windshield having been replaced at some time, and the side/rear glass is tinted - done very nicely. The original owners manual resides in it's original bag. Additional gauges are an Autometer 5" tachometer and shift light, and also Autometer oil pressure, water temp and amp gauges. The shifting is handled by a Hurst ratchet shifter. The interior looks like it was just done, and truly has pretty darned low miles on it, just like the rest of the car. It's always kept inside, so no vinyl degradation at all - it's as nice inside as it can be, and everything is functional. Outside - nothing but the original California built and lived minty steel thatthe car was born with excepting the 5" cowl induction scoop on the hood. Most all of the chrome trim is original. The El Camino was originally Ermine White, so the owner tweaked it just a little - utilizing a pearl white tri coat pearl hue that is based off a 2001 Harley Davidson color. There are a couple of emblem tweaks here and there, but the owner was building it for him, and not to please anyone else. You can make it yours in any way you choose once you purchase it, or leave it just as it is if that's your choice. The fit and finish of the sheetmetal is as nice as you will find anywhere short of a Chip Foose job. There's a piece of trim on the rear window that 'picky me' would replace, but other than that it's cherry pie stuff all around, even in the pristine pickup bed. Take a close look at the pictures, it's truly as nice as it looks. The vehicle is ALWAYS stored inside, and never left out other than when on a drive or cruise. The vehicle as pictured is how the owner keeps it, always. It's not been detailed, fluffed, buffed, or rattle canned in any way, shape or form - it's as honest as it can be, nothing hidden, nothing covered or covered up - just the real thing from bumper to bumper. You'll not find a more honest car or truck ANYWHERE on the planet. In Oregon we have some of the best climate for preserving sheet metal and trim you will find - no salt, no salt air here in the Willamette Valley and a really nice, milder climate - other than a lot of rain. It's been very pickily maintained, kept cleaned, waxed and meticulously fussed overas well. I've not seen another El Camino of this vintage that is any nicer, straighter or more fun todrive. The title is clean and clear with no leins, brands or encumbrances and is in the hand of the owner ready to hand to you upon full payment. There is no way this car could be restored, built, and put together for anywherenear the money that we areasking, and it represents a great value - much better than money in the bank. It's funny to me that the same vehicle in a Chevelle/Malibu would bring 10k or so more easily. El Caminos are somewhat misunderstood - I have owned many and currently own a 1964 - the '64 to '67 Caminos really represent a great value, and hopefully someday that gap between car and truck will be closed. You'll have fun driving and showing this car, grabbing a gear or two at your whim and desire but- be prepared to get tons of smiles and thumbs up - and be the hit of any car show you take it to, with most likely a trophy or 3 to take home for the trouble, I will try and answer any questions I can as quickly as I can, and as honestly as I can. We are hoping that someone who digs what the car IS will be able to purchase and continue to love on and appreciate it. It will be the source of many smiles, waves, envious stares and enjoyment that we know for sure. Buy it drive it and enjoy it - it's better than money in the bank and one heck of a lot more fun!
