1999 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71, 4wd
1999 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 Description
This is my 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 finished in metallic pewter with a gray leather interior. The Z71 package was optional both in 1999 and 2000. This package included an upgraded suspension, brush guard, and side steps along with other trim variations from the standard Tahoe. I do still have the side steps which will be given to the new owner. Below is a summary of the various vehicle systems. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me.
Motor/Transmission/Brakes:
The truck starts up and runs good with no odd noises and the transmission shifts as it should. In my opinion, the 5.7 Vortec V8 and the 4L60E transmission were a great combo for both reliability and smoothness. The brakes work as they should, but the ABS light is on as is common with these trucks.
Body:
The truck does have some nicks and dings which are to be expected with the age and miles of the vehicle. I have takes pictures of the doors which have some nicks/dings. One of the rear cargo doors have a couple of dings the size of a quarter. The paint hasn't been disturbed, just a couple of dings back there. The hood has a few spots where the paint has chipped which can be seen in one of the pictures. As with most 1990s GM vehicles, the paint is flaking/thin in a few places. The driver's rear quarter panel is the most obvious as well as the tops of the doors. I have shown these areas in the pictures. The rear cargo door latch is loose, but does work. The front passenger door has no roller pin installed, but the door opens and closes fine. Above each front door is a spot where each front door has rubbed the roof. This can be seen in the pictures.
Interior:
The interior of the truck is smoke-free. The leather seats have some minor wear from use, but no tears. The carpeting does have minor staining is areas from coffee/tea. The A/C and heat work as they should, along with the rear A/C. All power windows work as they should. The power door locks stick at times; at the times they don't engage fully, I lock and unlock manually. The rear cargo door does not lock and unlock with the power controls, it has to be locked/unlocked manually. The dash is cracked in numerous places which is common with these trucks. The power driver's seat works as it should. The radio sounds good, but I haven't tried the cassette of CD player in my ownership. The driver's sunvisor is missing as it was broken when I acquired the truck and I just took it out. These can be found on ebay if you want to replace.
Tires/Wheels:
The tires have some tread left, but will probably need to be replaced within 10,000 miles. The wheels do have some minor corrosion in spots.
Overall, this is a dependable truck with a few quirks that can be expected with its age. I wouldn't hesitate to go anywhere in this vehicle. Some recent maintenance items done to the vehicle are:
Fuel pump
Catalytic Converter
Bilstein shocks
Front sway-bar bushings
Water pump
